.bin file for Cell C ZTE MF668 modem

Does anyone have an idea where to find an updated .bin file for the Cell C ZTE MF668 modem to use on Dovado UMR?

I got the black speedstick today, but my router is unable to detect the modem.

This is the reply I received from Dovado support:

The ZTE MF668 modem we do support is the one that is branded with the operator Rogers in Canada, unfortunately we do not support the CellC modem in the 4.3.3 firmware, which is the last firmware the UMR receives.

Is there anyone out there who got the ZTE MF668 from CellC to work on Dovado UMR?

There was a post here about sending an AT command to disable the CD-ROM device in the ZTE modem so that it only appears as a modem, people had success with this and the TP-Link routers before the TP-Link firmware upgrade was released. That trick may work with the Dovado as well.

Thanks for the advice. I used Putty to run the command and the virtual CD autorun was was definitely disabled. I tested it by putting it into PC USB port and it did not run the Software installer. But the router still does not detect the modem:cry:.

Guess I'll have to change routers. According to other posts the TP-Link is able to detect the modem - hope it works. Hope it doesn't disconnect that often as was reported.
 
TPLink 3G router incredibly unstable

Hi all,
Back in January I bought myself one of Cell C's Whoosh packages (the 5 Gig, black dongle that uses a micro sim) and a TP-Link TL-MR3420 router. I stopped my ADSL, so I only have the speedstick plugged into the router.
I'm finding the router has progressively more and more unstable, dropping the 3G connection, or dropping the wifi connection (the wifi light is still flashing, my PC says it's still connected, but I can't browse to the admin page). This is literally happening every 10-15 minutes. I have updated the firmware, reset the router and reconfigured it a couple of times, and still no luck. I don't know if it's perhaps increased instability on CellC's side due to extra takeup, but I doubt it (doesn't seem as unstable if I use the dongle directly on my PC).

What I'd like to know is, has anyone had similar issues with this router? Am I looking at a faulty unit I should try get swapped out (5 months later) or is the product generally rubbish?
 
I have same Router with cell c. Had similar problems so I took modem out and plugged it straight into computer for few day and problems persisted without router

As b4 u born suggests. Test the modem directly in your PC for a few days first. If it's fine then contact Uniterm tech support, they are happy to help.

Which model?

A friend of mine has a K4505 (not "-Z") and he has very similar issues as you with his MR3420 connected via wifi not ethernet. I live 3 blocks up the street from him and my connection (E1820 and MR3420 with ethernet connection) is very stable.

I used the AT command listed in the post mentioned to disable the virtual CD-ROM on ZTE's MF668, which is AT+ZCDRUN=8. What is the command to re-enable virtual CD-Rom again?

Is it possible to search for a network manually with the TP-Link TL-MR3420 router ? It seems like that is a huge feature that the router is missing...
 
Netgear MBR624GU & Cell C E1820

Howsit folks-

I bought a Cell C E1820 usb modem, which has worked all along and still continues to work in my Mac.

However, I bought the Netgear MBR624GU wireless router, and for a month or so had no problem with the wireless. One day, it just stopped working in the following manner:

Usually, as was the case from the beginning, when I insert the modem into the router, the blue light flashes a couple of times, and then holds a solid blue light (it connects). That was great when I first got the router coz it meant I could just plug my LAN cable into the router and my Mac and configure the router and set the wireless up. Now, however, when the modem is connected to the router, the blue light just flashes continuously and never stops; ie it doesn't connect.

I figured it must be an issue with my router, so I had a new one sent to me as a replacement. Now with the new one, I'm having the same problem outta the box. I can't install the latest update for the router because I can't get access to it to configure it (because there is no connection; the light keeps flashing on the modem, which is inserted into the router).

Will the problem be solved if I can find another way to access the router for configuring and installing the upgrade? I have my doubts, as the first router had the updated firmware and still this problem arose.

Why did it work in the beginning and not now. Please help!

I had a similar problem, I put the settings in again and then saw for some reason the firewall button was active?. I deactivated the firewall and it worked fine again. Somehow it activated itself and this caused the modem not to connect and just flash blue.
