Yep, I def. experienced WiFi problems with the latest firmware. Currently using V110125 again, working well. Pings from laptop to desktop immediately went down to <1 ms, managed to copy 300 MB without problems and internet (CellC 3G ZTE MF 668) also performing a lot better!

anybody recommend a good router in which you can plug the SIM directly (with LAN ports - not WiFi only)? This "plug the dongle into the router" thing just doesn't work well enough for me.

PS If you are having issues with your TP link then feed back to Uniterm. They have a good relationship with their supplier so I am sure they will be keen to solve any issues.

How is the Netcomm MyZone Mobile 3G Wifi Router?

Is it still available? I see people are getting routers from overseas. I'd prefer something supported locally. It must be a WiFi router, run on rechargable batteries, and take either the CellC black stick or it's SIM, and operate at least at 7Mbps at the same price per MB (R0.05/MB). It needs to connect 2 - 3 WiFi devices, even if they are niot using the 3G connection.

My local CellC shop is clueless, and each time I call the Jbg number, I get cut off after holding for a long time.

Just noting here that a friend of mine has a MR3220 and it has modem identifying problems with the K4505 (not Z) version. Sometimes it shows as K4505 and other times just "3G modem". It disconnects often.

Also getting "3G modem" on the MR3420 with the same modem. Will see how long it can stay connected.

I'm not sure if it's available in SA yet(I doubt) but the netgear MBR1000 looks awesome and supports CDMA, HSPA(+) and LTE so you will be sorted for a while, noatter which network you use. And sim plugs into it directly. Only downside is 10/100 LAN, no gigabit.

I use the Cisco (Linksys) E3000 with custom firmware. Great little machine

SPEEDSTICK with Netgear MBRN3000

HI there

Wonder if anyone has a solution for me.

i recently acquired a Netgear router MBRN3000

now if i connect my back speedstick to it, i can connect it to the internet no problem and share my internet connection no problem. but if i connect the newer white modem it does not recognize the device.

Now i have updated the firmware on the router to the latest version possible but still it does not recognize the device.

how can i get this working?

Theres a compatibility prob, return it and get something else, this has been an issue for a few months now and hasn't been fixed yet

havent tried it with the new speedstick yet but id does work with the old one. and i do remember my supplier telling me that they were going to present this router to cell c but i dont see it in cell c's product list

Different manufacturers; E1820 made by Huawei, MF190 made by ZTE.

is there an actual reason someone can give as to why these modems are not compatible. surely this should be easily resolvable

You should be able to. Just make sure you buy a powered hub as the router won't have enough power for more than one device. Also, no guarantees here, but theoretically it should be fine.

Please advise on a wifi router that works without speedstick (like B970b) that allows LAN connection AND works with the Mede8er.
I'm currently using my HTC hd2 as a wifi router but it doesn't work with the mede8er
Sorry - I do realize that this is a CellC thread. I'm just looking for advice on getting Internet connection to the mede8er via my CellC sim.

I bought a edimax 3g-6210n and it work perfectly

It cost me R900, its about the size of your palm, works with the E1820 (dont know about the ZTE) check it out here:

Wi-fi signal is pretty good, i can pick it up anywhere in my apartment and my buddy next door can connect as well with a strong signal

What did it for me is that it has a battery, since i recently bought a wifi onlt Acer iconia, i throw the modem with the cell c stick into my backpack and i can connect anywhere.

Can charge from a usb port or wall socket
