I dont quite think the MR3420 is unreliable, there are issues with inbound DYNDNS and a handful of modems are problematic but apart from that its rock solid, we've sold thousands of these units and the vast majority of the buyers are very satisfied.

I cannot comment on whether or not this will work better, the proof will be in the pudding I guess. The interface is almost identical so I'd imagine the firmware has been ported across to the MR3020, have the bugs been ported across? I dont know

I recently got one of the Chinese TP-Link Products - TL-WR703N. Had to put OpenWrt on it so that I can get some english firmware, but since then works like a charm. Due to the lack of a USSD package for OpenWrt, unfortunately balance cannot be checked at the moment. But its more than worth the little trouble !

I dont see a difference between this unit and the local TL-MR3020 apart from language of the firmware loaded and local support, warranties etc...

Hi there guys, I was wondering if anyone could help me.

I currently have a Huawei E1752 (Cell C) and I am soon going to be getting myself the 60/60 8ta special however I really do need a router. What router can I use with this Modem. I'd preferably not spend a lot, however I need something that works well and very easily.

I looked at the Scoop ones which are very cheap and the Dovado TINY - Just really confused as to what is the best value for money.

Most of the routers should work with your modem. In terms of value for money, I reckon the TP-Link routers are probably right up there. Have a look at www.dbg.co.za

I would suggest the Routerboard 751 from Mikrotik.

I also have a Trendnet product but would not suggest it, mainly because of lack of firmware support.

Yes, it has a USB port where you plug in the modem on the side. Another benefit is you can add a stronger antenna if you wish. It should support most modems as their firmware actually gets updated quite often.

we tested the sim card with cell c black usb stick and it worked perfectly..
