3G/HSPA/LTE Routers

Hi guys

I just bought the 10gig 8ta deal, and am using the Cell C Hauwei 1820 modem that I got from Cell C last year with the 8ta sim inside it. It works well when plugged into PC.

But it seems as if my Netgear MBRN3000 router doesnt connect to 8ta network when I use the 8ta sim card inside the Cell C modem. Is there a way to solve this?

Do I need to flash the MTN software over the cellc software that is currently on the speed stick,
since the MTN network is supported on the MBRN3000 router.

Also, where do I find this firmware for E1820 on MTN, any links?

I've used my E372 with MR3420 for over a month now with the bin-file i created with TP-Links sniffer software and it is rock solid (and i have similar reports from at least 5 swedish users). And the E367u-2 is also working great with MR3420. Production issues with the router perhaps or different components in earlier/more recent routers?

It is strange that results vary like this. I have three friends now with MR3420's and E367's and none of them report any problems. But I myself had my fair share of instability which vanished overnight.
 
Does anyone know if and when TP-Link will release new firmware for the MR3420?

Maybe you didn't convert SIM card to non-roaming. Plug it to the PC or phone, do manual search and see you can attach to 8ta or MTN (roaming).

I dont think it would be soon.

I logged a support call with them when I started experiencing issues with my router. After about 3 weeks of waiting patiently I sent them a mail and the only response that I got was that a senior tech will look at the log file I sent them soon.
 
Managed to get the Asus RT-N13U stable on Cell C with a Cell C E1752, but it is a bit of a waste to not be able to use the E367 and E372 (K4605) modems.

I've only tried it out for a couple of hours but so far so good. This fw has E372 support so no need for the bin-file i created. It still takes about 3 min for the router to identify the modem.

B.t.w. A couple of days ago my MR3420 was acting up. It "lost" the modem and only after a reboot it identified the modem correctly. However, it reported 6% signal strenght compared to 80-100% normally. I removed the top cover and the heatsink was extremely hot. With the the top cover off its stable and acting normal. So i'm looking in my computer junk boxes for a bigger heatsink and/or a small fan to take care of the heat issue.

I upgraded and am sad to report that it is still unstable with the K4605. It could be worse, but I'm not bothered to test it for long periods right now to see if it is. Back to my stable Intellinet. With no support from the manufacturer, I feel like I have wasted my money on the MR 3420.

When i opened the router and removed the top cover it was immediately apparent that TP-Link was in a hurry while assembling my router. The heatsink is not aligned properly with the chip (or whatever it is) it is attached to. And that of course means that the heat transfer is less than optimal.

If possible remove the top cover and try running it open. Could be worth trying as a last resort.

Edit: by the way, remove the rubber feet and you'll find the four screws holding the router together.

The new Oz software for the MR3420 DOES NOT support the E372 modem, it reports it as an unknown modem and fails.

However, if an E372 bin file was loaded before the firmware upgrade, it stays in memory and does work.

I don't think that this firmware resolves the issues with the MR3420.

Hmm, at first i thought you had smoked something funny as i cleared everything (removed the E372 bin file, loaded factory defaults etc.) and rebooted the router prior to flashing the firmware. But lo and behold, despite removing the E372 bin file its still there under Network - 3G - Modem Settings.

Straaaaange!

I upgraded and then deleted the E372 bin.

If you then reboot, the MR3420 just doesn't recognise the modem.
