512 speed increase woohoo!!

Hmmm, how do I check if mine is done? Speeds are the same :/ but i am on a 384k shaped package.
Then get one of those free or trial accounts somewhere. Then test.

If you have a 384 account on a 512/1024 you will still be limited to 384.

If you have a 384 line : there are no changes to those.

As per this thread:
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...ervices-will-be-upgraded-to-synch-at-1024kbps

it looks like speed increases for 512K are FINALLY here.

Here's my speedtest as of this morning, Saturday 30th, on Cybersmart
(BTW, ~80% of line speed is max for me)

Awesome
I thought it was just something funny with my line, but yeah, it looks like I have been upgraded as well.

Although I do notice that some downloads (specifically if I use a download manager) still only run at about 512 k speeds.

Friend of mine has 512k and line is still the same after router reboot. Is it best to call telkom directly or via web ....? Based in BFN

Router reboot is not even necessary. It will change over without you knowing. I doubt calling them will get him upgraded much sooner. Not everyone is being upgraded at the same time.

Maybe give it a few days - it is a long weekend after all and I doubt that everyone will have been bumped up this weekend.

Actually I recall cybersmart charging different amount for data according to what speed line you have.

Hence my use of the word "almost".

Well, I'll get back to you tomorrow night and tell you if I've been downgraded or not, but they automatically upgraded their 4meg accounts when 10meg came out, so I don't see why this would be any different.

I upgrade my line to 512 two weeks ago, and saw my line was 1024/512 4 days ago. YAY!!!

Thought Telkom made a mistake. It's about time for some "upgrade" on the network.

Finally got my upgrade too, although I had to phone them to get it done :D

For anybody still having hassles, call 0800375375, select option 1 (existing subscriber), then option 1 (technical support). Tell them about the speed upgrade that was meant to take place over the weekend, and that you have not been upgraded as yet.
