Shouldn't there be a 5Mb to 8Mb option added?

I eventually opted for 10Mb because that's what Telkom claim my exchange is capable of but in reality I am limited to 6Mb (checked with Telkom recently and they still claim that's the best I can get). Checking the forums I'm not the only one in this position.

Completely agree, i am certain they are hardlimiting us to 6MB as we have no say in them giving us better speeds at this time :/.

I even caught one of the techs on the phone tell me our other line cannot go further than 4MB when it is on the same exchange this line which syns at 6MB .

I am not complaining seeing 640KB/s but more is nice too

Edit: Will edit or post again (provided its not a double post) , you can actually ask them to tell you the capacity of your exchange ;-), am going to try get some stats later and post here. Will be interesting to see just how little capacity we got or i maybe surprised.

You will be surprised ...there are different DSLAMS in the exchanges when the IMAX is full then obviously you cant get 10 meg and distance/copper line conditions limits you on the speed you can achieve .
And i very much doubt the tech will be able to give you the capacity of your DSLAM but we will wait and see .

I trust what you say so i know i won't get anywhere when i phone, thanks for the info, just read another user saying and posting (will find the post) that showed just how little capacity was on the exchange (bearing 20:1 contention ratio).

With respect to capacity, i know they were out at our exchange which is in central Stanger (lotsa businesses connect to it) on the 21/22nd April this year and not upgrading our capacity is rather sad . Again not a major complaint just if they want us to get lekker speeds, just do it the right way.
