I just want to know why there is suddenly a high demand in the northern region? Is there a physical broken link or what?

It wasn't like this a month ago.

There are probably a few factors. New OS releases mean App updates and patches coming our constantly. Also the introduction of 20Mbps lines on ADSL 2+ means that many clients now can upgrade where they previously couldn't. We're also seeing a steady increase in clients moving towards streaming services, which may not be the cause but definitely might have been a factor along with overall events at the time.

you know whats funny, it's when my 10Mbps account starts maxing out at 15Kbps and neither the AH reps on here or critical care even acknowledge my problem and try to assist...been waiting from yesterday, emailed a critical care employee and has not contacted me....

The double-speak and lip service from AH is quite amusing. At this point it's quite clear that the reps' function is to string us along until the new capacity is online.

I think we've been more than willing and open to assist.
Drop me a PM with your details and a ticket ref# and I'll have this followed up.

What causes contention to take place? When demand exceeds supply?

When the demand increases the IPC needs to handle more and more data flow. When traffic does content is usually results in high latency.

So I am on a 8MB account, and get about 1-4MB, if I downgrade to a 1MB account would I then get what I am paying for?

How can the network degrade so poorly without any contingency plan, this is becoming like the Eskom, make excuses, blame others, and expect to charge more, as its our fault the problem exists in the first place.

I think this has been discussed at length.
We do have planning for our network, it's a continuous cycle. We simply didn't foresee this amount of demand taking place so quickly.

It has been discussed at length, and I still find it difficult to understand how you can under cater for growth. Internet usage is increasing world wide, so this is not something new.

I understand that, so do our team. We know that things aren't 100% now, but they will be. And when they are, they'll be better than ever.

You really have missed your calling man. Government/SA Post Office/ruling party/Shrien Dewani/Oscar could really use you.
