We don't manage the exchange unfortunately, as Telkom house all ISP lines on their exchange. If the exchange is congested, there is no logging or escalation process to address this, it's exclusively in Telkom's domain.

Earlier trace routes have revealed no issue with exchange congestion, or am I wrong?
As usual, all the issues experienced by all on this forum are on HOP 3 (and onwards), which is usually the IPC HOP and beyond on the MTN network - been proved many times in the past. Even the erratic fluctuations are on the MTN side, as proved by the different latencies (spikes) from one trace test to another.

I don't believe its Telkom, other accounts have no issues. Same thing happened when I complained about the Streaming, log onto Mweb, Imaginet, everything works 100%. I have now run out of free accounts, but its always the same.

It's possible that when you reset your port for a new account it improves for a period, but latency at what is generally the second hop is Telkom hardware. This is before it reaches our network so we have no control over that hardware at all.

This is a local test, Telkom claim no issues???

If the latency still originates on the 2nd hop, it can only be a Telkom issue or a fault on the line itself.

Post tracert's with your speed tests. If the throughput is perfect on other test accounts it can maybe show where the problem is.

It depends on the line and the exchange. But as I mentioned, what most people see as the second hop (between router and our network) is Telkom infrastructure.

Which is why I said he should post those traces. Irrespective of which account he uses the 2nd hop will be constant if he tests within 5 minutes of each other to show the congestion on all accounts.

In my own experience I've seen latency drastically improve after switching accounts, as the port is essentially reset, and then degrade over time. Sometimes within 15-20 minutes, other times longer depending on the issue. This could be due to a degrading line losing sync, or congestion settling on the exchange after the initial reconnection.

Got a new free account, will do tests later when I get back to the office.
