Yeah. Nobody else is doing much on the web right now.
I don't get it though... My mate on Axxess (which is also MTN, ye?) also gets a better ping than me. It's nowhere near as good as WA, but it's better than mine.

Doesn't make sense. Especially since traffic in East is pretty much within optimal range. Does it make any difference if you log out completely, turn off WiFi and connect via LAN to your Afrihost account.

Nope. Still the same pings :( It's been like this since I joined Afrihost.
 
I have the same problem! I am in Richmond KZN, 40KM from Pietermartizburg,
Richmond's IMAX links via ME to PMB and latency is not what it use to be!

Network's a bit more congested for WA at this time, but the ping still remains better. Later on it is far lower (sub-200ms) as in the previous tests.

The discrepancy between 17ms and 22ms destination latency is very minimal, but seems like you also get a consistent 30ms on your other account which is strange. You are only pinging 5ms to the BRAS (on Telkom's network) - I'm assuming you've removed the prior step to router in the trace as this would most commonly be the second hop. 5ms is excellent, one would usually expect closer to 10ms and up to 30ms just for that hop (though around 10ms is ideal).
 
Youtube for me is constantly buffering, in the East as well, anything wrong? It was fine yesterday....

Routing seems very intermittent, though your destination latency doesn't seem terrible - should be good enough for decent YouTube access, depending on the quality you're viewing.

Which area are you in, what time were you testing and what quality settings did you use (what line speeds, also)?

Were you able to test the performance of your connection this morning? Have you noticed any change? Has this occurred recently at points in time?
 
Some advise will be greatly appreciated,

I have a 4mb ADSL line with Afrihost, running a business 4mb account,

I seem to always have a problem at night during 6pm and 11pm with international speeds, always ranging from between 50 - 80kb/s

First I thought it was congestion on the local DSLAM, however local speeds run full during this time.

I even get the same speeds using an SAIX or IS account, could congestion impact only international speeds?,

as far as I can see from trace routes and pings everything is in the normal, local 20-60 and EU 180-190.
 
I have the same issue with TI and is planning to move away from them end of the month. If Afrihost has the same issue, then I need to look at someone else.:cry:
