Even SSH and mybroadband is unbearably slow. What is going on with these indefinite "upgrades" ?

Upgrade our expectations, upgrade the excuses, upgrade the "soon" and "optimisation"... but the MTN network-bork just seems to remain the same.

MTN = Meh This Network

So whole weekend of ****ty internet with latency through the roof now even my speed is borked, websites are a pita to load without using a vpn and SAB is maxing at 300KB/s slower than normal.

Same here. After having crappy nzb and torrent speed the week before mine was full speed this weekend, but everything else was crap.

I can't load Youtube videos of any quality on my phone. I'm running out of patience.

WTF is going on??? I cant even stream 720p YouTube video on my business account.

Downloads running full line speed, however downloads from YouTube running at one third of the line speed.

This is pretty pathetic, I cannot stream youtube at 240p, It takes me 2 - 3 minutes to open an email on gmail, it seems that anything MTN touches turns to s**t, or there is a total lack of effort being made by afrihost to fix their network, telling people you cannot give them a date when these new network fixes are coming is also a bit of a joke, I have heard that same line for months now, dropping from 1st to last on the best ISP list is a good sign its time to move on, I will give it another month, unless of course someone at afrihost can give an indication when these network fixes/upgrades will be done. You are not providing the level of service that I am paying for!

What happened to me last night, see previous page. (Haven't bothered to try today, it only makes me negative.)

Morning everyone

I just want to say that I have done my best to skim through all the posts over the weekend, and I can clearly see that there was something going on. Judging from similar posting on social media and our support queries, there was definitely an issue, but we're not sure what happened.

Our reports of demand on the network and latency were showing that performance should have actually been fairly good. So there is a disconnect somewhere, and we've reported all the feedback to our technical team for them to look into what may have gone wrong.

I do see a trend of people reporting Google services not working, which is pretty concerning. Can you please let me know which services were not working, which region you are in (city is fine) and also whether you experienced this only on Business DSL or also Mobile. Hopefully we can narrow it down. Gmail worked for me, but I found YouTube pretty awful on my side.

If my post here doesn't address any specific request you made for help (which I may have missed) then please, please PM me so I can make sure I address that specifically.

Youtube, chrome (couldn't preform a Google search nor load any website), mybb app on android, play store.

From the JHB.

Problems experienced both on adsl and mtn mobile data - vodacom worked fine.

When it did get better - the above services were and still are slow.

Please dont blame my exchange - I experienced the exact same problems that every one else here did.

And the fact that reports show that demand was fairly good is most probably because no one could do anything on AH.

AH website showed this at one stage:

AH only thing that worked was using a vpn - then youtube worked, emails came through, etc.

Oh Heavens another apology, lost count now, the MTN network was definitely belly up this weekend.
All Google services timing out, mybb app would not work, very slow browsing. Switched to WebAfrica capped account and everything was peachy... Afrihost fix your *beeping* network, paying full price for this rubbish every month. So so so pissed at myself that I did not cancel.

Speed tests show line is running at full speed but anything ion YouTube buffers all the time??

This is exactly the problem I have, Speedtest comes back normal although latency is terrible as usual, downloads work as they should but Youtube is terrible as well as Gmail taking forever to load. This is also in Cape Town.

These test sites must be rigged, or work off some sort of cache system, as they very seldom reflect a true exam[ple of your actual Internet experience.
