* PotAto, potAHto.

LOL, understood.

Point I was trying to make, why are the Reps not coming clean. Sure, feed this crap to the clients who are none the wiser. But why come here and spew this nonsense?

Don't you throttle/shape because of the capacity issues so everyone gets a fair share?

We don't, as in we don't limit or throttle protocols to give way to others, however contention on the network may affect some services differently to others :(

ADSL 4mb Business Uncapped feedback

I got Afrihost's 4mb Uncapped earlier this month and found that the shaping policy wasn't for us, so we upgraded our package on the fly (which was impressive :)) to 4mb Business Uncapped, and so far very happy. Full speeds most of the time. We will see how things go for the rest of the month.

Did a local test:

Keep it up Afrihost!

Hey Guys

If anyone plays Destiny (that can play right now) please PM me, we'd like to run some tests on your game traffic to make sure we can give Destiny players a good experience :)

Thanks for the compliment. A bit confusing cos you posted tests mentioning the "other" ISP ;)

Haha! it was just Mweb's speed test page (From "Local speed test za" Google Search), doesn't Afrihost have a speed test page? lol :P :P

My connection looks better so far since Friday... averaged about 75% speed over the weekend and was running at 97%(from 9am) until I just turned off the downloads so my wife can use the internet for browsing / gaming.

Edit:... nope... she is downloading drivers at @220.9 kB/s on a 2 meg line (thats my max)

Really awesome to hear that things are improving slow but surely :D

I don't see any improvment from last week .

In the game yes. Latency for speed tests seem fine.

The ping was great till around 11:40 and then took a turn for the worse. Seeing 400 -600 now. Will keep an eye out and see if it improves.

Drop me a PM with the game titles you're playing.
I know we've recently made some tweaks which have seen some improvements for Destiny.

Sorry to hear you're still having troubles.
Does the Telkom guest account yield the same results?

Don't say sorry, just give me the 6MB connection I am paying for. Simple, really.

Going into the third month of very unstable speeds yet still have to haul out the full amount every month even though Business Uncapped account holders are guaranteed by Afrihost to have full line speed 24/7.
That guarantee means absolutely stuff all if you cannot provide a service that is supposed to be "premium".

And the Telkom guest account (username: guest@telkomadsl, password: guest) does not even allow me to browse anything, let alone do a Speedtest. There is a connection, but absolutely no throughput on anything.

While I understand that you're frustrated with the slow speeds, I'd like to have feedback passed onto our teams wherever possible. We are seeing some improvements, I think this thread reflects that.

When using the Telkom guest account, please browse to http://www.saix.net/ and click the speedtest icon.
