Well well well...

I just called the support line as my internet is DEAD tonight.
The techie told me the following...
We are having some IPC issues in Cape Town, YES IPC. The Directors are apparently still there and they are working on it, they were there last night too? So I was told that some traffic is being shaped at the present moment.

Right, so they just told me they are aware that there is an IPC issue in the South BUT as usual the Status Page on their website shows everything is 100%

So AfriReps, you have said numerous occasions there is zero IPC issue, you have also said you DO NOT SHAPE OR THROTTLE Business accounts AND that you will be more proactive when updating your websites status page. The 0116127200 number however says otherwise. If the Directors were there last night and tonight surely there is a problem.

I am so sick and tired of the lies. So over it!

P.S. Cant wait to hear the excuse or the story that is going to be spun.

yep i don't think they have any credibility left and it is going to be difficult from now on to believe anything coming out of their mouths
this is what happens when you oversell your product and hope everybody don't go online at the same time
it is funny that my broadband don't do an investigating story about this saga

Ill say this.
When it works, its amazing and I have loved it. I have also recommended good a 20+ people to these accounts because really they are the best when they work.

As above though, for me, there is zero credibility left. I just want the truth that's all. If there is a problem let me know and ill deal with it or decide to go elsewhere. Continuously lie to me about this and that, that's when I get fed up. Unfortunately I have reached that stage.

My account and 3 of my friends, who also happen to be with afrihost have been having problems over the last few days. I recently upgraded to 4mb business from 2mb business and it got worse.
They have oversubscribed the service and are milking us, this same thing happened September last year and it took months to sort out.

My downloads are dead on the news server. Battlefield 4 has so much lag it's unplayable. This has been happening for a few days now.

I'm in CPT and on a business account as well.

:wtf:

This is part of the issue that we have at the moment with some of the Support Guys, some of them only half-listen when they get updates and then over-react widely.

There is definitely NOT an IPC capacity issue in the South at the moment, we are performing maintenance on our side, we've started noticing our shaping was not being as effective as it should be. I think many P2P clients are getting better at camouflaging P2P throughput and resulted in our system leaking more bandwidth than we wanted.

We've have learned from our past experience, if there are any issues affecting our network we will let you guys know.

You should definitely not be seeing any reduced throughput at all at the moment. Are you seeing any reduced throughput, or latencies on your speedtest?

Then I highly suggest you go and speak to your support staff.
When they start throwing words around like IPC and Shaping it contradicts everything that is being said here on the forums.

As I said after chatting to the support team and posting my findings with them...

I still believe that, its a fantastic account, it really ticks all the boxes when it works.
Unfortunately though there are just too many stories etc etc. I have also said on numerous occasions I take my hat off to you guys as Reps, I really do. You get alot of flak and I know you do the best you can and relay the info that you have been given. So please, with regards to the above there is no disrespect to any of you. You guys do a great job and its awesome to have a direct channel. I am sure it is frustating to a certain extent for you guys too. I just think your comanpy hsould be a little more forthcoming with the issues etc and stop trying to use every excuse under the sun. Fact is, we still dont know what the exact issue is correct? You guys as Reps probably havent even been told yourselves.

So all in all, I respect you guys. No hard or ill feelings towards you at all :D

:)

I think you guys have been very reasonable and approachable 99% of the time, and that 1% is fully understandable especially when I can imagine how frustrating it can be having a slow or intermittent internet connection.

We're taking great pains to change and evolve the way in which we interact with our Users - our office has even been moved next to our GM to make sure we are kept up to speed on everything - and I think there has already been some improvement, but we will be pushing to keep on getting better with this.

can you mention what the improvements are
speeds still drop anytime of the day and latency is bad and you leave your customers for whole weekends with no service
so where is the improvements

We're making changes to the software that we use, specifically to make sure that the recurring latency issues do not recur, we've recently noticed that our bandwidth is not being utilized as effectively as it could be, especially with regard to P2P and HTTP downloads not being shaped effectively enough on Uncapped accounts.

Hi Thorsten,

Thank you for your e-mail :)

Kindly note that the slow access issue on our end has been restored. I ran a session auditor on the data account to clear all errors, please restart your modem and advise if the latency issue is sorted.

Please don't hesitate to contact us should you require further assistance.

Thanks
