Hows it going with the Youtube fix?

Watching youtube at the moment is a bit painful to put it mildly.

Actually surfing in general is just cr@ppy ATM.

Youtube is driving me up the wall too. Often 480p doesn't even stream without buffering.

Optimistic

Afripeople ,,,, taking a quick once over the forum, the comments in the main were quite negative,

It may be a good idea for Gian to revisit his thread, or have the mods lock it.

The network was horrible this weekend, I even almost called my PREVIOUS ISP to cancel because the was so bad, I thought I was still with them :)

international browsing has also been up to crap since friday morning
the service is deteriorating fast now on an ah account

Most things are back to normal for me, with the massive exception of Youtube and Steam. Youtube is mostly broken, and Steam gets crap speeds most of the time.

Http downloads are great though, browsing is normal and P2P is acceptable.

I think our team ran a host of changes/ tweaks around Google services specifically this weekend. I ran a few tests yesterday and YouTube performance seemed good for me.

Glad to hear a few things have normalised :)
Would you mind running some tests for YouTube though? Not sure why it's performing so poorly for you.

Sure. What sort of tests?

Do you have something similar to iftop? It works really well on Linux, I want to see where you're pulling the content from.
If you don't, could you run some pings, a traceroute and lemme know what DNS servers you're using?

Thanks so much :)

Honestly after that weekend... Google services ran like a turtle at best. Browsing was as slow as a dog too!

Will test afrigreen soon...

So seems like gmail and youtube are an issue this morning, having trouble getting into my mail.

I can't seem to get this replicated on my end, testing with Google's DNS and all seems OK here.
Are there any tests you can post here?

Speedtest comes back normal, it seems better now, but I am starting to think there is a issue with my firefox browser.

Ok I can see my emails but I can't open them to see attachments, google Chrome website loading now for 3 mins.

Loaded now after a 3rd try??

Ok so the loading icon just keeps going and going forever, all speedtests local and international are fine as well as traceroute, same problem on chrome.

Hhhmm, this sounds pretty strange :(
What DNS servers are you using?

It is set to obtain automatically.
