Thanks for the feedback Ho3n3r. I've also logged a support ticket with Afrihost. Was thinking that the forum could be a better place to discuss the issues I'm having with other well informed people. I do not have the deep technical know how to argue with the support guy. I have to buy whatever he's selling. At least on the forum you have people with knowledge backing you.

What would you suggest, I am on a 4mbps uncapped deal with extremely slow download speeds and shaping killing me vs a business account say 1mb I download around 170gb per month, Thanks:wtf:

From your PM this is not an ISP issue - looks to be congestion. But we need to test further to confirm. If it is, changing to Business will not really help much :(

So what kind of saving are we looking at if we stay on the same package (4mb bundle)????

"Afrihost CEO Gian Visser said that they will definitely be adjusting their ADSL line pricing – both for new clients and for clients that have bundled line and data with them.

“We are finalising all of these changes and they will be ready later this month,” said Visser."

Hopefully at least R130-ish - or well the price difference between the old 4Mb and the new 4Mb. Some extra would be loved too :p

That's a very cool reply, but according to the below they have already decided on the pricing..

We'll be passing on the savings or the additional line speed from Telkom in full, but for now our data prices will remain the same. We feel that our current data prices are still pretty competitive with our competitors upgraded data offers - and we'll review our pricing soon once the upgrades settle and we can assess the impact of that process.

Clients who have bundles with me mailed when their lines upgrade with their options going forward - most will be able to decide whether they'd like to stick with their current speeds and get a cash saving or upgrade to a higher speed option.

What I would like to know is when do Telkom's new ADSL line rates come into effect. Like right now I have a 1Mbps line but want to go back up to 2Mbps ASAP. I don't want to wait till next year but I also don't want to pay the old prices for the ADSL line.

Does anyone know when I will be able to get the 2Mbps line at the R200 price point?

We're still confirming a few more of the finer details around this, we should have something announced soon :)

With all the complaining we've been doing lately I just wanted to give credit where it is due. I upgraded my line yesterday and only then realized it's gone for a ball of *insert ugly words*. I spoke to I think the ladies name was Safe....first to drop my line speed for testing and then Ithumeleng to log with Telkom.

What an awesome experience with both of them, knowledgeable, friendly and just generally awesome. It's days like this that I remember why I stuck it out with Afrihost.

Keep up the good work guys and massive kudos to the team!
