Guys please. This Youtube buffering is really becoming an issue for me. Who do I need to send what to to get this sorted??

You guys have been made aware of this issue by, not only me, but countless other 4mb users on the business account. I am now at a point where I will take my account, my friend's account and company account to another supplier. I can stream vimeo vids in HD but damn Youtube is buffering on 360p!!! Do you not want my money?? I mean ffs, Youtube is auto selecting my videos at 144p!!! And even that is buffering. I have sent countless tracerts, speedtests, etc. And all I get is, o no this is dismal performance and then nothing gets done. I want answers now, your time is up

My 1mbs business with Afrihost is working better than that . Are you sure what the problem is?

No I am not sure what the problem is. My 2mb uncapped account could stream at 480p. I am just getting sick and tired of all this crap with AfriHost at the moment. And all I get is ahhh shame that should not be like that and we would need to look at what is going on, but then everyone just disappears. really annoying as ****!!

Just give the reps the necessary feedback and they'll help you accordingly.
 
Im also on 4mb business account and youtube is shocking as well. Constantly buffers unless I select the lowest quality. Dont even get me started on twitch tv. I have given up all hope that I can ever use that on afrihost. Plays for a few seconds then buffers for a minute. Shocking

Does it shape dynamically or will it shape it during business hours and then unshape torrents outside of business hours?

What I mean by dynamically is whether it's demand based? So If I've got optimization on and no other traffic is going on on the line, will the torrents be able to run at full speed? And then as soon as there's web traffic or video traffic, it'll give the torrents lowest priority?

No, it's a straight on or off feature. When you have it on it hard shaped torrents to max of around 8kbps - but otherwise everything is exactly the same :)

We've replied to all your posts. I think to be fair if you're posting at 10pm at night you can't always get an immediate reply - we do our best to try to be there whenever you guys post.

As I've mentioned before - if you want a fast reply, drop me a PM cos I get a mail notification and I can see if there is an urgent issue that needs to be addressed. It's very difficult to monitor the threads in the same way :(

And yes, I do not expect you to reply at 10pm at night, but a reply in the morning would be good too. Not only replies to the home thread.

We've done some testing on our side and we're not able to see any issues with Youtube where we have good throughput on the line. Even with a poor line at our office yesterday - we still got pretty decent YouTube service.

Just streamed flawlessy on a 10Mbps line on 720p HD - no buffering at all. So I think this maybe throughput related.

Can you give any indication of what kind of throughput you're getting on your line? You can drop me a PM at any time so we can figure this out .

I tested twitch yesterday and it was pretty poor (except on lowest quality) but YouTube was pretty normal for me. I think twitch uses more throughput though and one of our offices lines was having a wobbly at the time.

I think this might be an issue of throughput, not necessarily latency or routing. I'm testing on a 10Mbps line and 720p is streaming effortlessly without buffering. Hitting close to max throughput on the line though so it might get choppy if there is any latency or throughput issues on your line :(

We would need to replicate exactly what you are doing to test under similar conditions. Maybe your line is losing sync occasionally and experiencing packet loss - though this would affect Vimeo as well.

Side question: how do I go about cancelling my telkom line/account (I am moving to another flat in january but moving out now and staying with parents over christmas period (december) So I need to cancel my Telkom line, I will probably freeze my Afrihost for the time being.

Not looking great, the congestion seems very consistent, causing an increase in latency across the board.
