Additionally Afriguy, there are a couple of websites that I seem to be having some problems with two relate to the department that I work with (Computer Science at UWC) and the departmental websites are unavailable via Afrihost http://www.cs.uwc.ac.za and http://www.csunx.ac.za/ both are immediately available via Mweb or on a cellular network. The other is a server that I play Minecraft on, I used to get relatively low latency for a site hosted in the US (250-80ms) but lately it has bumped to 380ms on a good day. The server url is mc.shadowraze.net

If there is anything further I can do for you please let me know. As I am sure you can understand this situation is becoming frustrating rather quickly.

Cheers!

Thanks for this, I'll push our team for feedback on this.

Sadly... it seems that Afriman is the man and when he is not around there is no man.

Sorry you feel like that :( AfriMan is away for a few days, he'll be back late next week. I'm afraid you're stuck with me for a while ;)

Please PM me your account info, I'll have our team read into these results further.

Thanks. Please PM me your info so I can have this escalated for you.

I already sent my info to Afrigirl. Not sure my info will help though, since 41.181.139.109 is not on my network. Its on yours.

I'll chat to AfriGirl in the morning, thanks. We need to attached the info to your account for troubleshooting and identifying any trends.

We aren't seeing any reported issues on our end. Shaping is being implemented heavier than what we usually see but this shouldn't be affecting realtime services.

There you go again. Realtime IS shaped. As mentioned today on the uncapped thread when using turbocharge suddenly streaming appears in 720 hd (if on regular uncapped).
Yet on biz uncapped it's terrible quality and on normal uncapped streaming is non existent. 4meg Cape Town ALL DAY.

I've requested a refund because shaping of streaming is evident in biz uncapped due to this South IPC issue when you and your product claim otherwise.

Have you received a response? It seems their account department is also understaffed.

I reveived a response yesterday saying that my refund request has been sent to Accounts but they are very busy with other emails and tickets.
I sent the request Sunday and still no refund or response.

What else can we do but wait. I want the refund so I can get what I paid for elsewhere. Cant beleive these guys and support turn around time.

I have been over the moon since getting afrihost last month.

Then I upgraded to business on my 4mb and I was beyond the moon, never mind over it!

My speeds were maxed out at 430kbps at all times and since the weekend I noticed that my speed has dropped during the day and evening. I.e peak times to about 250kbps.

Now why am I paying for a premium service when I am getting this speed now?

I have swopped to my telkom data account and it runs maxed out again. So the issue is definitely Afrihost.

I contacted support now and need to send in tracert results etc..

It is evident that I am being shaped now on my business account. How else can it explain the speed decrease. Using a different ISP I get full speed again.

I like afrihost. I enjoy their support. Unlike you guys, I get resonse quickly and I am in the south.

However, this infuriates me. Yes everyone has an off day now and then but I am paying out of my student arse for this business package. I had the normal 4mb but AH forced me to upgrade due to being constantly shaped.

Now that I upgraded, and paying a premium, I expect perfect speeds at all times. It seems there are a few others also struggling on their business accounts.

If this doesn't get fixed soon, I will cancel my service and request double my money back. Why request it back? Just because I can.. they cause me an inconvenience so why not use their money back offer.

So Afrihost, I am not interested in PM'ing around with afriguy or afrigirl (no offense, you guys do have a difficult task dealing with us here), if this doesn't ease up I ( and I think many others) will be cancelling our services here in the south. And yes we know there is IPC issues but then, if you can only deliver on a sub performance, then charge us sub price for the time being.

*rant off*

If afriguy can FOR SURE do anything about it, he can PM me and get my account details.

Very interesting info.

Other people have also mentioned there's a difference between capped and biz uncapped.

Same here, I have had several tickets, and supplied them with speed graphs and even offered them remote access to prove the difference between CAPPED and Business uncapped, clearly we are not getting the full truth, maybe even the AH reps here on the forums aren't given all the info either from their dark masters?

Gian, whatsup with the shaping and not being truthful to your BUSINESS users who are paying more for a product which is supposed to be the "premium" service?

Whoops, now I feel down. I was looking at their 4MB Business uncapped (unshaped/unthrottled) Looks like that is not the case then?

Quality of Service magically improved around 23:30 yesterday; from abysmal to normal. South, Business Uncapped. Congestion? Coincidence? Shaping / Throttling? Afrifolks?

Can you confirm that business uncapped is not shaped? If it isn't, why is the network status constantly green when there are obvious issues?

Am currently on a 2MB regular uncapped ADSL data account with Afrihost and my ADSL line is still with Telkom, but I have been considering beefing this up to a 4MB uncapped & unshaped ADSL data line (or bundle), but given some of the recent posts on MyBB, I should rather hang ten with going for Afrihost.

Who else offers a truly unshaped & uncapped 4MB (24/7) service with the ISP's out there? At a price that won't need me to go and sell body parts to have it? Any recommendations?
