Awesome. Status board finally reflects the issues.
Country-wide tho (same message is repeated in all regions).

ADSL Network Performance Medium Impact 15:10, 19 Jun 2015
Our network team and management are aware that some of our clients have been experiencing poor internet performance over our ADSL services. Due to high demand for bandwidth on our network, affected clients may be experiencing slow speeds and high latency, particularly during periods when demand is very high. We sincerely apologise for the poor experience, and we’d like to assure our clients that their feedback and concerns are very important to us, and every possible resource at our disposal is being employed to improve overall network performance.

We are currently in the process of designing and deploying comprehensive network upgrades nationally.
Unfortunately we’re unable give a timeframe for these upgrades to be completed, but we commit to providing our clients with as much information as possible as it becomes available.

Once again we would like to sincerely apologise to affected clients for the poor experience they have had, and assure them that we will continue to dedicate ourselves to providing the best possible internet experience.

Afternoon MyBB Guys!

We've been in discussion with the Higher-Ups, and we've now updated our Noticeboard with some details on the current network status and the upgrades that we have planned.

At the moment I can't go into anymore detail, but you're welcome to post any questions that you may have and I'll do my best to answer. :)

All the regions have been experiencing latency and reduced throughput, the South has just been worse-off of than the other regions.

A bit too late for me. Since my last post a few pages back, my account went the same way as all the rest of you guys - down. The last straw was youtube defaulting to 240p, after years of taking HD for granted. I went to the clientzone and downgraded to the free 1Gb. Signed with Vox. I will come back when things improve.

I cant say I have too many hosting related issues... but thats good to know. Thanks

Hosting has been relativity good and I cant really complain but this was on I.S infrastructure, We moved to a new server at the beginning of the month which I presume is MTN based and not I.S based. I'm hoping this new server will have better up time but seeing its not even a month worries me. but we will see. I.S's shared firewall services is a nightmare, always issues effecting everyone.
My next resort will be hosting everything via Dimension Data cloud Services.

Yah... someone certainly has in it for the South especially WC. We're typically the most affected. Maybe 'blue' envy or something. ;) Hehehehe...

Getting quite a bit of packet loss today. None of my UDP traffic is going through.

I don't see the reason for having regional entry's in the Status Log seeing as the status only changes once it has reached the stage that it effects the network nationally, but still it has been updated, thanks for that. I am sure it is, in no small part, due to the Afrigeeks pressurising management to update it and I for one am pleased to see some action being taken. The Afrigeeks are not totally toothless :)

I am still fuming over this mornings breakdown in diplomacy, but feel a lot better now that I know management has acknowledged, publicly, that the South has an issue and that other regions are also starting to experience it.

Things look pretty okay on the network at the moment.

Where are you seeing most of the packet loss occur? Could you perhaps post a traceroute?

Even though this notice is months after people started complaining... How do you get it right posting it 15min into the future? :wtf:

Mumble shows a 90% loss and counter-strike won't even put me in a server, local or international.

What would you all say to a tool which pings a server (could be 8.8.8.8 or anything) constantly in the background - and will create a graph/report that can be uploaded/processed with exact dates and times of latency issues? It will most probably allow the reps to see exactly who is affected, when they are affected...

Z

Just an idea...

Hi All,

Alright so I've written the tool to track the latency-spikes. It sends the pings up to my server (literally just the ping value) so that I may generate a few graphs for network wide performance. You're welcome to check the source code HERE if you'd like to make sure :)

Just leave that running in the background. Unfortunately, I have not yet implemented a real time graph. I'll add that in the future if you all want it. I will post a link to a graph which will show the stats across the entire network in a bit.

lol +1

Also,

Could you enlighten us on what this entails?
Is this the shaper policy/equipment or IPC?

Could you add that we can see our own ping as well? Also, it does not show up on the taskbar for some reason?

I can say that the upgrades do not include IPC capacity... It does include upgrades to our network infrastructure... I know it's vague... But that's pretty much all I can say at the moment...

Okay sure. Will do next version :)

I decided to remove it from the taskbar, in order to let it become less distracting. Should I bring it back?
