Ok so, good news, well not really, but i think i have found the problem, i have been testing different ISP's, had no problem except for Axxess. On Axxess i had the same problem as Afrihost, and guess what, they both use the same backbone of MTN! So that must be where the problem is. Glory, finally it is narrowed down.
yeah they do both use mtn business.
Would suggest that your Line Attenuation indicates an underlying problem ... mine is 6db down.
How far are you from the exchange? Is there a closer exchange? If there is have them move your adsl line there.
Also appears to be a prob with your SNR. Down should not be lower than up. The higher the value the better. Get this looked at. Having said that my 4mbps line is happy with 16db... which is lower than my typical of 25db... which went all bloody wonky since the Telkom metro ethernet and msan upgrades in Milnerton.

Agree. They should not be conaidered absolutes. They are however useful as an indicator... especially if their values deviate from expected norms. In the case of the values posted.... they aren't looking like the typical and certainly worth a look at. Obvious concern would be that downstream indicators are weaker than the upstream. It's important to remember that a dB is not an absolute value. It's a ration between two values. It represents, in the case of SNR, the ration between signal strength and noise floor. So it's very difficult to say 6dB is better than 5dB. It all really depends on what the ratio values are.
Geez... that's not cool at allBeen three working days and still no feedback/call/email from afrihost!

Okay, so my feedback on the 10MB 100GB product is that it is a massive waste of time since I never really got close to 8MB syncs, stuck on 3.34MB download speeds. Several routers keep losing connectivity (authentication) to my ADSL account every 3 hours. Telkom Pretoria and technicians have been monitoring the line and came out and could not find any faults on the exchange or my line and said the problem lies with the ISP. Torrents are throttled on a supposedly "unthrottled" account. In short, the last two months have been an absolute frustration and the product is simply not worth what you are paying for! Why pay this for a 100 GB cap when you are being throttled and never seeing the 10MB speeds as advertised even though your exchange is capable of this. I would rather go with 4MB uncapped but I shudder to think what kind of shaping and throttling is happening here in light of me OBSERVING WITH MY OWN TECHNICAL EYES how torrents are being throttled (currently downloading at 20KBPS as opposed to the usual 400KPBS across several torrents, not just one and across multiple computer systems in my home). This is what frustrates me with Afrihost staff! They insist that no shaping is happening on the bundled accounts yet the facts show an entirely different story.
Don't bother wasting your time with this product, it is simply not worth it!
