I originally spoke to MDS Cape Town yesterday about intercepting a package and collecting it from the depot, they asked that I phone back in the morning once the most recent batch had come in. Fair enough. Called them promptly this morning just after 08:00 stating my waybill and that I would be in by 10:30 to collect my package, as it makes more sense seeing as I work in Epping, I was told to come on through and collect no problems. Get to the depot at 11:00 were I'm told to wait for a bit then walked to the back where they show me a bunch of giant white bags filled with what I assume hundreds of devices needing to be sorted and delivered. Okay cool, not really my problem but I see what your trying to get across. Anyway, as it turns out they hadn't pulled my package, nor did they know which bag it was in (figured they would at least know that much) so I was asked to come back later because they didn't want to make me wait while they looked. Called around 15:00 to check, no they are still looking. Called back just before leaving work at 17:00, was told that they hadn't even opened any of the bags and I needed to call back tomorrow. Haha, oh well, rate I'll just wait for them to deliver whenever they're ready.

After an original delivery date of 26/08/2013.

Good thing I never had any expectations in the first place.

Collivery are idiots. Monitoring my delivery today and it has steadily moved up from estimated delivery time of 12:00.

Requested delivery before 16:00 on 28 August
Estimated time of delivery is 20:15 on 28 August
Driver is currently 8.84 Km from delivery point.

Estimatd delivery time moves up by at least a minute every minute. That is piss poor unprofessional estimating
Guys just consider the fact that the Rica process is causing a major hassle. When the driver arrived at my place he was ecstatic that I had all the requirements ready. He said that he wastes time at delivery addresses with people not there or he have to wait, customers not having the documents ready and first make copies and some did not have an ID and those he could not release. This all waste's their time.

This from their website:

"Notice

Those of you that are expecting a delivery from Afrihost:

we have close to 10 000 of them to deliver by 6th September.
we have received nearly 2000 requests to change the delivery address.
we are experiencing serious delays/failures as a result of people not having their RICA docs ready.
We ask for your patience and understanding - your delivery will get to you before the 6th as originally promised.
Regards
The Collivery Team"

I guess it's understandable. Maybe we're too hard on these okes?

Lucky buggers! My parcel hasn't even been handed over the courier, maybe I should go to Afrihost and collect from them directly if this is possible as I will be in the area soon. Would be nice t be treated with VIP

I went to fetch mine today at the Cape Town depot. They could not give me a time and since Monday the day changed 3 times.
Went there, picked it up. 5 Minutes.

Sorted :)

I do understand the issues - 8 000 parcels is no small feat. But now there's still another problem:

When it said
Delivery will be before 16:00 on 28 August
I made a plan to be there from 8 until 5.

Now it says
Delivery will be before 16:00 on 29 August
And I'll probably be there from 9ish, so let's hope I'm not first on the list.

If it's not there by 4pm tomorrow, they'll be 0 for 2, which means irrespective of what their website says, unless I get a call from the driver saying he's around the corner, I'm outta there at 12pm on Friday.

I also don't think that I'm the only one thinking like this, so unless they get us some accurate delivery information, their problem is going to get bigger and bigger.

What is the record for the time estimate? Surely it reaches a time when they won't deliver. At the rate the estimate is increasing I will get it as 2:00 in the morning

Requested delivery before 16:00 on 28 August
Estimated time of delivery is 22:26 on 28 August

Just bare in mind many factors - if it says
Driver is currently 1.6 Km from delivery point.
on route they still delivering more parcels probably >50. You ain't priority unless the shipper clicked on same-day-delivery.

Therefore when I saw the tracking details I called their operations and ask where the deliver driver is, they called me back and told be that he is in the area and as I am ready and waiting he would come immediately. So they delivered at 13:30PM instead of 15h30 as per tracking estimate.

My parcel is now for 2 days on "Pending dispatch" in my Afrihost ClientZone

Same with my daughters order. I contacted them today and got my Afrihost waybill no. on further query they said it's still with Afrihost despatch as they get released in batches and some would be released today so we could see a change by tomorrow, assuming yours and hers are in those batches.

Collivery tracking has shown 3 days in a row I will get mine before 16:00 and failed each day. They also make empty promises of the telephone. Unreliable is a word too good for them.

How can I trust anything they say since they already cried wolf 3 times?

?

I share your pain. Where are you based?

My take is driver take x deliveries. Ends up delayed by many and cannot complete the route and carry on again tomorrow. I know many times I pop to JHB to collect a few items and many times I ended up delayed by a few and return with half of the planned collections for the day.
