Afrihost Mobile Delivery Feedback Thread

I guess they use your delivery address to RICA ? That will be my work address... interesting.

No the address where you receive the package is not necessarily your RICA address. Your RICA document pertain to where you live (not where you work) ;)

Guys, RICA is a joke. There is no way the delivery guy can possible verify whether a document is real or not. Get an old bill from someone, change the address in Photoshop, print it out on your colour printer and bobs your uncle.

Actually our guys are specifically trained and extremely pedantic. They are not going to accept fraudulent documents (or bribes) and will leave without delivering if they are not satisfied with the docs submitted.

It is probably preRICAed so that it would work when you get it, but might stop working mid month if you did not produce all the required documents, I would believe.

Since we will not hand over the SIM unless your documents are produced, it doesn't really matter whether we pre-activate it or not :)

Mr.Afriman, I wasn't aware about the need to Rica on delivery. Accordingly my delivery address was my home address. I wont be at home during the week when the deliveries are scheduled. Can I give my paper work to somebody who will be at my house, or do I need to change the deliver address to my place of work?

So you don't even get your MiFi if RICAring is unsuccessful?

Correct.

RICA requires you to be present when taking delivery I'm afraid.

What RICA Documents will I need to produce when the courier arrives?
You will need to have your original barcoded Identity Document or valid Driver's Licence, or the foreign passport you used to sign up (including any support documents). You will also need a valid proof of residence which can be a utility or retail invoice (no older than 3 months) or a valid lease agreement (no older than 12 months). You will need to produce the original documents, as well as copies for our courier to take. The copies do not need to be certified as the courier will compare them to the originals in your presence.

VERY IMPORTANT: The person who signed up the package (and whose ID is presented) must be present to receive the package, as this is part of the RICA process.

VERY VERY IMPORTANT: For any lost documents like ID's or Driver's Licences, we will require an affidavit and a temporary replacement

Just wanting to make 100% sure: The payment, which should be going through today sometime, covers the data for the month of September right?

That why I asked. As I can see my sim is now rica'd , but you don't have my address where I live. So I guess that will be updated then when the docs return to you guys.

Correct.

My girlfriend is an auditor and can't guarantee where she'll be during delivery week. What do you suggest?

I put down my home address for both of our delivery addresses as there's always someone there but now that won't help. Would be easier if you had a place to collect from in Cape Town. :D

Just saw the mifi, very nice. I actually really like the Afrihost branding!

Very happy to see that a top up of 250MB is only R29 rand. I'm really hoping you have a tiny and cheap Month-to-Month option that can be selected, as R145 per month is too much for an ADSL failover solution most people will be using this for (as only existing Afrihost clients could pre-order, and logically they already have ADSL).

If we only have the choice to have a large R145 p/m package that we won't make use of often, I see lots of people cancelling their Afrihost Mobile and getting a pre-paid sim from MTN/Voda/CellC and topping it up when needed. Would much rather see my money go towards Afrihost.

Payment displayed as Verified, but no parcel packed as yet, haven't received an SMS/email notification from my bank as well...

Maybe all the sim cards are Rica'd automatically and programmed to have afrihost apn, username and password credentials preloaded(out of the box), instead of making things challenging for those who aren't illiterate. Happens with ADSL(people don't even know where there username and password is)
