Afrihost Mobile Delivery Feedback Thread

Strange, got a call round 7pm to say I'm getting tomorrow. However tracking on mds site and AfriHost clientzone still the same as it was 2 weeks back....

Weird. Did you change the address? Obviously I won't be at my office tomorrow...

If you've been called directly by the courier, then that would be confirmation over site info. With the backlog, I think they may thinking outside the box to exceed expectations - hopefully that's our style rubbing off on them :)

What does it mean if yesterday status was "driver dispatched" and today it says Invoiced? I haven't received anything yet.

Are you getting this from ClientZone or from MDS site? They don't do any invoicing, but if the driver is despatched it means your goods are on the road and hopefully en route to you very soon :)

Assume that everyone in this thread that has not received their MiFi today as promised received an SMS and/or and email from Gian - to express his deepest apologies and to explain the way forward from here.
Would you mind detailing the way forward to those of us who didn't receive this SMS and/or email from Gian?

As per Gian's mail - ALL outstanding Pre-Orders will be delivered next week, unless there were payment or admin issues that may have caused delays like unsubmitted verification documents for foreign passports, etc. Also, anyone who did not receive their MiFi by the promised date of 6 September will receive an extra 5GB free on their October allocation - worth R495 at current Topup rates.

Also Gian personally apologised for the delivery problems and gave his commitment that this would be sorted out as quickly as possible.

@bwana

I've got bad news.

And also a little good news that'll hopefully help soothe the pain of the bad.

First the bad news: It looks like your MiFi device will only be delivered next week.

I am gutted. And I'm sure you are too.

I am sincerely sorry that we could not get your MiFi to you by the 6th of September as promised.

There were a bunch of factors that contributed to this: The biggest was that we originally planned to give away far, far fewer MiFis than the 8157 we did.

But after the first 1000 sold out in minutes we didn't want to disappoint anyone - So we ended up giving away over 8 times more MiFis than we had planned to.

And one of the consequences of this was that MDS Collivery, our couriers, had far more deliveries to make than they had budgeted for.

On top of that they were also hamstrung by terrible weather in some regions and the fact that we were not as clear about the delivery address details we needed from you in our original order forms as we should have been. This led to many delivery addresses needing to be changed after we gave the MiFis to the couriers which put additional strain on them.

But I'm not trying to make excuses.

You are our client and I take full responsibility for letting you down.

So now for the good news:

As a small token to show you how sorry we are - and to hopefully make it up to you - we are going to be adding FIVE EXTRA GBs to your Mobile account for the month of October.

For NO extra cost or obligation.

I am sincerely sorry.

MDS will continue to do their best to get your device to you as soon as they can.

As I hope you know, we are completely committed to delighting you with every aspect of our service - and in this case we have definitely not lived up to our own high expectations and have let you down.

I sincerely hope that when you do get your MiFi it will bring you such joy that the pain of waiting a few extra days for it will be quickly forgotten.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sorry again.

Warm regards

When can we expect the other launch orders to go out? Ordered a 10GB sim as well. :)

email subject: Apologies & a Gift (Re: Your MiFi Delivery)

@rph72 this is for the pre-order MiFi - for those that didn't receive theirs as yet.

According to what I read on the forum there is still a backlog - that needs to settle down.

I will see what the turn around time is with the next 10 GB sim :)

We'll do our best to get them our as soon as we can. With the backlog, we want to make sure we keep our existing promised before we make new ones.

Afrihost should be fighting the government to get rid of this ridiculous RICA requirement. This seems to be the source of most of the problems. RICA is a joke. It's so easy to fake the necessary documents that there really is no point. It's just a huge waste of money for everyone concerned.

The sooner the better. Got to burn through 9.3GB Pure Internet Joy before the end of the month.

I presume i must get another set of RICA docs ready? :(

Tried changing my address details for office delivery...no luck. Was told that delivery would be Friday (made sure I was home after 2pm) -didn't happen. Was told that deliveries will still be done today (Saturday) between 8am and 2.30pm... again, didn't happen. Call centre seems to be closed on weekends too.

I seriously hope they don't try to deliver during the coming week, cos I wont be available.

Mine got delivered this afternoon at home, and I get the bonus 5GB in Oct - thanks Afrihost!

Why is it that some people who ordered first get their parcels delivered last? I'm just curious how this can happen.

Hopefully delivery will be on Tuesday. And it better not be tomorrow as I have not received any communication indicating this, so I won't be able to meet the courier.

The delivery company was simply overwhelmed. All logic goes out the window when you're under so much pressure.

My guess.

I had a totally hassle free experience. I guess I was lucky in that I had not expectations and it arrived on the 4th. So easy to set up and all working well.
Thanks Afrihost for a great deal :)
