Afrihost Mobile Delivery Feedback Thread

Why is it that some people who ordered first get their parcels delivered last? I'm just curious how this can happen.

Hopefully delivery will be on Tuesday. And it better not be tomorrow as I have not received any communication indicating this, so I won't be able to meet the courier.

The volumes were so huge, we just didn't anticipate it - to be completely honest. Our system was designed for the original 1,000 devices were going to give away, and then subsequent day to day deliveries.

8,000+ in a single day just kind of broke our brains. We had to get all the bundles packed and shipped and there was no way to additionally to do in order of when they were places. All the original pre-orders are out on delivery now, so once we're caught up, this should actually be a very smooth and painless system. Many clients were lucky enough to experience the way it was meant to work, which I think was very awesome and hassle free :)
 
I had a totally hassle free experience. I guess I was lucky in that I had not expectations and it arrived on the 4th. So easy to set up and all working well.

The delivery company was simply overwhelmed. All logic goes out the window when you're under so much pressure.

My guess.

overwhelmed sounds about right. does that mean you're going home each day with callouses on your brain from thinking? Cos that's pretty much what happened :(

Fair enough. All in all, Afrihost impressed me quite a few times the last couple of weeks. And I'm sure I'll be impressed once more as soon as I receive a certain parcel.

Thanks for being so awesome about all of it. I can honestly say that what I do is not an effort at all! It's my pleasure to help and inform clients about what we do and why and how we do it :)
 
I ordered my 5GB Sim Only on the 04/09 and it's still packed and ready to be handed to the courier... Turnaround times are not too great by the look of things.
 
Got an SMS this morning that it's been handed to the courier, so another couple of days then?
 
Phoned them now to track my parcel and they've said it's been delivered???? Wtf I haven't even ricad it? Now I have to email Johan but something doesn't feel right....

Edit: há há oops, my bad got the waybill number wrong :banghead::banghead: sorry lol

My guess is once they have caught up with the 8000 odd that had to be delivered due to the initial order, things will calm down and deliveries will be a lot quicker. In addition you have had the weekend too

You are probably right, but perhaps the launch to the public should have been delayed by a day or two. And if their couriers are falling over then maybe it's time to call in some help. I'm sure RTT or RAM can very quickly clear that backlog, and if they negotiated their contract properly they could even hold their current courier liable for the cost...
 
OK so my status on Collivery said on Friday "Driver dispatched" (or "en route" - can't remember exactly). Didn't pitch at my office. Got another message from them on Saturday that they will deliver - notified them (via e-mail) that I won't be at the office and gave them my home address. No luck - didn't pitch.

Today I see that my status have been changed back to "Received by branch"?? Guess I should phone them....
 
Got another email saying my device is coming today, hope its not like Friday where they said they're coming and they didn't pitch. I understand that they're overloaded but then don't make promises where i have to cancel my days plans and not stick to them. In hindsight i suppose Afrihost should have employed the service of multiple courier agents.
 
Was phoned by MDS on Friday to ask if I would be available on Saturday for the delivery. I said no since I would not be at work on Saturday. No further information, no waybill, nada. Damn, should have come to the office and spent the entire day waiting for nobody :D

We should be handing over a large batch today, so things should start turning around a lot faster :)

MDS are doing their best to try and push out the backlog of deliveries. Many people got their parcels over the weekend, probably for home deliveries. It makes it easier for them to now schedule for those at offices for this week
