Afrihost Mobile Speed Test

Pretty low. Over 9000KM. But ping is just above 200.

Ping is not only directly related to distance but also related to the quality of the network and speed of the link as well as congestion.

Anybody from east London Stirling are using it how is the speeds

Download Speed: 9428 kbps (1178.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1061 kbps (132.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

42ms on saix speedtest.

im in bellville , max signal

Easily done in settings!

Under Dial-up> mobile connection select manual
Under Dial-up> Network settings change from auto to 3G only
Under Dial-up> mobile connection change back to auto

Thats all. Enjoy

Mine is greyed out, so unable to change.
It stays on Auto.

Ah sorry misread about the manual part. Will check it in few minutes.

You'll need to de-activate any active sessions to change those settings :)

WTH, Pretty much the whole of Vredehoek and a large chunk of Oranjezicht and Gardens are not covered.
This is central Cape Town!:wtf:

I live on an island of no afrihost coverage surrounded by a sea of afrihost coverage

Set up and tested as soon as I unpacked it. First tried the mifi, but the signal was too weak. Then I put the sim in my regular E3276/router combo that has a Poynting antenna, which took the MTN signal strength up to around 45%. This setup usually works nicely with Vodacom LTE (50% signal strength, 40ms ping, 12mbps down, 8 mbps up) and also provides very good Cellc performance.

Sadly the MTN performance here in Fourways is not good, with pings that you can measure with a calendar, and <100kbps download.

I've sent an email to Afrihost support, to ask them to enable LTE on this sim. Let's see how it goes after that.

Mine works every-time, directly linked to PC?

Had a strange issue just now. Somehow the Mifi reset itself back to ground zero while in operation. Password changed back to admin, everything returned to auto (2g in my area) and the strangest was that it created two networks to the one MiFi device. ??????????????

Not bad for a backup when my 6Mb line goes down or when I'm traveling.

This time of day internet is usually really slow, i'll test again tonight and tomorrow.

The MTN coverage is not good for me
Seems to be very bad in the Boschkop/ Tweedracht area - east Pretoria

My vodacom 3G works fine...
MTN AH MiFi not so .... 2G if you're lucky ... doesn't sustain any connection long enough for a speed test

Did you force it to 3G only? If not give it a try.
