Question:

If it is "Unshaped" then how can it be "Priority‑Boosted", reducing or increasing priority is by its very nature a form of "Shaping".

Priority-Boosted Bandwidth = Unshaped Capped account.

Those accounts have the highest priority and won't be shaped.

That avoids the question, it fails to answer it, you cannot "Priority‑Boost" something and then claim it is Unshaped. You could get away with Less Shaped.

Would have been better to just scrape the shaped capped idea.

Capped = unshaped

Such a stupid thing afrihost is doing,or is this a thing now that all isp's are doing.

Mzansi,it likes to leech you dry!

We're definitely considering changing the name to Unshaped Capped accounts instead of Priority-Boosted accounts. The accounts will remain identical but it should help alleviate a lot of the confusion around it.

:(

A lot of other ISPs have had Shaped Capped accounts for awhile, which they were selling at a lower pricepoint. This meant that quite often our Unshaped Capped accounts were being compared to Shaped Capped accounts.

If Afrihost just stopped the promotion and carried on like always, I am sure this thread plus all the other options of calling, emails etc would be ten times less. Now they have made this (terrible) choice of introducing shaping policies and lots of people are leaving because of this and had no intentions of leaving either before all of this.

yep... looks like somebody was doing some overthinking... there was nothing wrong with the previous simple offering.

They only made one mistake - They could have just said No more Double data as of January.
That would have been in line with expectations.

But new packages, shaping, Opt In vs Opt Out, price changes etc. just to avoid saying the free data is canceled, has opened an unnecessary can of worms and is costing them both reputation and clients.

It's about making sure that each of our Clients has the product that they need and want. Most of our Clients want to have access to more data for less money.

In case it was missed earlier, again, can an AH rep find out about this?

I can confirm that if you are on a Unshaped Capped Account your data that rolled-over will also be Unshaped. :)

Thanks, and by unshaped capped I assume you mean Priority Boosted? Have to stay on brand there AfriGenie. ;)

And some of them want to download 3TB for R29! That's no reason to break the perfectly good offering that you had in the first place!
