Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

It's about making sure that each of our Clients has the product that they need and want. Most of our Clients want to have access to more data for less money.

So it was a conscious decision to screw the Users who value Quality over Quantity.

A new account would have given the budget users just that with no extra complication for those who only ever wanted Unshaped Data.

And some of them want to download 3TB for R29! That's no reason to break the perfectly good offering that you had in the first place!

I honestly believe our product offerings are still pretty solid, our Clients just have more options to tailor a solution that works for them.

Or... put a huge sign on your website saying "UNSHAPED CAPPED ADSL". That would work. Afrihost, we as your clients that are with you chose you specifically because you offer unshaped capped ADSL. We didn't go to the competitors because of it being shaped. So since you offering the same as mweb and web Africa, you took away what differentiates you from them. I used Web Africa, solid network but I chose Afrihost because it's unshaped.

There were many times I had to move to Web Africa because Afrihost wasn't performing too well (minor periods) but I still remained with you because your capped accounts are UNSHAPED. Now that you took that away, if I have an issue with Afrihost, there's no differentiation between you and Web Africa, understand what I'm saying?

What you should have done was try to make clients understand why they should choose you. Explain what makes you special over your competitors not do this. Unfortunately this is a total flop and you receiving a backlash from your clients from it.

Can anyone at Afrihost help, I got a new website but for some reason it just shows "Coming Soon". No matter what the index file is changed to.

at a higher price of cause dont forget to mention that

That's not the case. The Unshaped Capped accounts remain at the same price that they previously were, but you can opt to double the available data if you opt for a Shaped Capped account.

Hi! :)

You may need to remove or rename the original index.php file in the Public_HTML folder. :)

If Afrihost just stopped the promotion and carried on like always, I am sure this thread plus all the other options of calling, emails etc would be ten times less. Now they have made this (terrible) choice of introducing shaping policies and lots of people are leaving because of this and had no intentions of leaving either before all of this.

yep... looks like somebody was doing some overthinking... there was nothing wrong with the previous simple offering.

They only made one mistake - They could have just said No more Double data as of January.
That would have been in line with expectations.

But new packages, shaping, Opt In vs Opt Out, price changes etc. just to avoid saying the free data is canceled, has opened an unnecessary can of worms and is costing them both reputation and clients.
+1 to all 3.

Sorry but I disagree.

Before all this - I paid R699 for 400gb capped unshaped product with dsl line included.
Now it will cost me R998 for 400gb capped unshaped product with dsl line.
How is that the same?

We've changed the Unshaped Capped accounts to actually be called Unshaped Capped accounts now.

Unshaped Capped accounts are still available as they previously were, the difference is that Double Data has fallen away, but you can still use Plus+ to give an Unshaped Capped account Double Data again.

What did your email say now again? As far as i can see, 400GB data costs R399.. Are you saying, that for unshapped 400GB it will cost R699? I think that email might include your DSL line.

Eg, mine shows R150 + AfriPlus so 150 + 150. I think maybe get more clarity on that, because no way should a 400 gig package cost that much.

Your package was an exception as it is a Legacy account that you could no longer sign-up for through our website as I explained to you via PM.

I still recomend looking at the 150GB Unshaped Capped account for R299 in your instance, with Free-Time the 150GB will more than sufficient for your current usage patterns.

Ok so it is a legacy account.

Now why must I change my account?
Why must I pay more for the same thing even if it is a legacy account? That is not on.

I am saying for 400gb unshaped it is going to cost R799. That is without the dsl line.
With the dsl line it is R998.
Afrigenie can confirm as he is the one who gave the price of R998.
