Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

Halving someone's capped allocation & charging them the same price, just to get "priority" is not looking after your clients. That's looking after your bottom line

I think it's unfair to say we halved client's data when that was free data, which is why we clearly marked products as XGB (+XGB Free), becuase there was always the chance that the data might not be made permanent.

The reality is we found a way to try to give as many clients as we could the option to keep their data, without having to close our doors.

You actually pay the same as you currently pay, however you will keep your base product and free data will fall away :(
AM i had already downgraded to a 150 gig package, before news broke of the minimum of R299 package or more. Do i now have to upgrade again on the 1st??

^^ This.

It WAS simple.
Now it is just a fustercluck of jargon and spin with PR massaging thrown in... short story, capped account now shafted.

I definitely don't feel that this is the case. It's really a case of trying to find a way to give as many clients the option of keeping the extra data they've grown accustomed to, and also preserving performance levels for clients who need to ensure they get the speeds they need.

Are you wanting to do that to keep Free-Time? It won't matter whether you go Shaped or Priority-Boosted, as long as your spend is R299 or more.

I'm sorry, but no matter how they try and spin it, this is a definite kick in the nuts with a healthy helping of "***** you" to the clients.

No you forfeit half your cap for it.

Yo won't be forfeiting paid data, it just means we can't continue Double Data if you opt for the Priority-Boosted option and want to ensure the highest priority on our network at all times.

I understand your feelings here, but I think if you look at it in the context of us really trying to find a way of continuing Double Data (which was not guaranteed at any time) then I think we found the best compromise possible :(

Technically you do pay more. If you on a 200GB capped package, to remain on a 200GB priority boosted capped package, you pay more. Reducing half your Cap is just to make it seem okay.

I don't think that is the case. Remember that a portion of that data was free promotional data. So if it was 50GB+50GB, then you would have been only paying for 50GB and receiving 50GB free. We're simply not continuing Free data for clients who opt for Priority Boosted Capped.

I thought double data were made permanent a while ago when IPC prices were halved.

Changing specifications for capped accounts aren't cool. I'm very disappointed in you Afrihost. :(

I totally understand. We haven't changed specifications - ultimately the premium capped product is remaining the same but does not offer promotional double data.

Double Data was not made permanent, it was extended until December (this month).

"Free data" or not, I don't see any clients winning in this. Don't talk about unfair, we the clients are the one's that will have to fork out more for Free time & above that we get a shaped experience as well.

Yes,or your capped account becomes shaped. Everyone's accounts is going automatically to shape 1 january if you don't pay extra for the "BOOST"

Gian didn't get his bonus this year,so needed a quick fix to make some money.:D

We fully expect that clients on shaped capped are going to get the same experience for the large majority of the time, and we only plan to shape those accounts in dire circumstances.

This was really about preserving value for clients without increasing our costs, which could then impact our clients :(

As I've mentioned, these were all promotional items, which we unfortunately could not maintain given the costs. We would definitely have loved to keep Free-Time going for everyone, but it was just not feasible and adjustments had to be made to at least keep it going for as many people as we could.

This say all about afrihost you give free data no buddy ask to screw the Network than you say sorry wat i say last week we know lower the speed wat you never get
international speed is not higher as 20 MB with speedtest in the evening not even 10 MB
Than you try to sell new products
I can remember last year you promised you never having this network problem but know with introducing the Semi-Shaped Network with no open Information on your Network capacity you can reducing the speed every day without telling the customer wen you Shaped your Network

I don't know how this slipped past you guys, but we (clients) HATE any form of shaping on capped accounts! This is why we are Afrihost's customers & not the competitor's.

Say I am going to go with the priority capped. If I experience increased latency/packet loss, can I claim back as you state it as a priority account, as you've had quite a lot of these network issues recently, as recently as last night.

Are you wanting to do that to keep Free-Time? It won't matter whether you go Shaped or Priority-Boosted, as long as your spend is R299 or more.

yes, but because i didnt see the R299 or more coming, i downgraded as the initial minimum for free time was 100 gig package or package or more. So no i have to upgrade again, as the 150GB package is below the R299 price point.

AG would it not have made sense, to offer Free time to those R299 and above, and give double data to those below. It would mean that users on R299 and above benefit and those below also have something to add along with the 00:00 to 8am free data.

I think the frustration is, that people below R299 have seen their double data get taken away, and are forced to spend extra to get more data.

LOL.

- So they ran out of bandwidth, and started shaping uncapped accounts.
- Then they offered double your data, and all sorts of other crap to pull new customers and try and get uncapped users to move to capped accounts
- Then the network crapped out again and south and east started moaning month in and month out because of congestion
- Now they shape capped accounts too?

ROTFLMAO.

basically bait and switch tactic..."hey! look everyone! free data for everyone, come and get it"....a period down the line..."hey everyone, so we think in order to save you money, we have decided to make a few changes. It shouldnt affect you too much, we hope. Ok! thanks for your money, bye"
