Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 3

It's a case of waiting for Telkom to process it from their side. :( The time that takes can vary a bit.

Erm I got a message from Donovan that the request has been asked today at 10:54 am, just 7 minutes away from 24 hours after I wrote the mail to have the sync higher as a reply to the Telkom fault, though that's more than 24 hours for critical care. I still have 6 Mbps sync... So I have a line fault open since the ~10th, have not had a tech actually visit my house though I've had three different calls to ask if a tech had been sent that day, I've been degraded to 6 Mbps (60% down/50% up of normal) for the past two (going to be three now) nights and yet I am still expected to pay full line fees? This is getting ridiculous.

And like above posters, I have had quite high latency, this time not on the exchange nor packet loss on the exchange, to the first hop on your network that was resolved swapping to an alternative provider.

AH you guys can never seem to get your sht together on your network. It's like a continues vicious cycle.

Network goes tits up for weeks/months with people from all over the country complaining about packet loss, latency and slow internet. All the signs of capacity issues. You guys deny it then after a couple of weeks will confess to network strain. Your management will send out a mass mail apologizing and giving clients free gigs. The network will then run smoothly again for a couple of months because of the additional IPC that's been purchased before the apology mail.

You then start signing up too many clients through your promo's like free daytime data and bam tits up again, back to point one.

1. Happened when you guys moved from IS to MTN.
2. Happened after the inItial MTN sale.
3. Happening again now after MTN sale back to shareholders and promotions to grow client base.

Sort your sht out!

That's a 20Mbps "supposably" unshaped capped account.

Pathetic!

There seems to be some real issues here. I'm currently using my 50GB from MTN cos it's faster then switch to my ADSL data once that data is used. Lucky I've got Vox as a back up but man, clients are complaining about AH a lot. Considering moving to Web Africa since Afrihost is shaping now anyways so might as well choose the best shaped capped option. Anyone using Web Africa capped? How is the experience, etc?

Rubbish ping on overwatch, 260ms. Jumps up and down :(

20mps line only me using it atm.

Shaped capped account.

Based in cpt.

I said this several times in the last few months, starting way back when the CPT issues started last year. I was shouted at by the AH fanbois and banned from the thread by RPM because the AH reps ran to him with crocodile tears. Back then I was a paying customer and hadn't been able to use my connection for streaming for weeks already. When you complain (the same complaint dozens of others lodge every day) they treat you like an idiot, expecting you to believe that your connection issues are your equipment and your exchange's fault. You send them tests like an idiot for weeks and when you finally get fed up of the BS and excuses you're told that they cannot work with you because you're hostile. No sht people are gonna get hostile when you lie to them for weeks while they struggle with crap internet. How many people who have been told they have exchange congestion in this thread actually have exchange congestion?

AH never changes. Their reps are touted as supposedly super friendly, but that's only a thin veneer to hide the fact that their main job is to deflect concerns about the state of their network. Remember how in September when they could no longer answer the mounting questions about why so many people were experiencing crappy internet on their network, they ran away for a few days and later crawled back claiming toxic members were the reason? Mark my words, we're a few months away from Gian writing this cycle's soppy apology letter with its usual promise of it not happening again.

I give us AH users 11/10 for loyalty. All this and we're still using them. Haha.
Waiting for a 3rd trial account from a specific isp. If this one still works good...hello new isp. Oh! Cherry on top? I save money

Please comment your new ISP in the thread I created. If by end of Feb, AH still sucks, I'm looking to move

Seems like I only post here when I have problems with AH but it was really bad today,

Sucks when you are gaming thinking you are getting perfect head shots only to find out a few seconds later you were already dead. I've been avoiding competitive gaming because of lag but tonight I couldn't watch youtube either because I was getting constant disconnects on top of the buffering.

For some reason at 10h30 my bras.afrihost.com ping went from 180ms to 5-9ms, lowest I have ever seen it (normal is 21ms). Had a near constant 171ms to LoL EuW, with intermittent (about once a minute) spikes to 180ms.

There are always issues on their network, and its starts daily from about 19:00 to 21:00. Then all of a sudden things will work again, network cannot take the load during peak.

If your getting 180 to bras your problem is between you and exchange. Might want to look into that
