Afrihost/OpenWeb ADSL class-action lawsuit

Which country do you live in? It takes months to get a court date. Then you got to go through a pre trial, etc. You clearly have no experience with the legal system.

I'm not going to file for a court date until I have enough support, that's just a waste of my time and resources. If and when I get the backing from other users, only then can we progress.

^ that's why you wont get support :)

Fair well to you sir, go play in your imaginary castle whilst the adults go to work.

You are saying I won't get support because the average user has so little patience? Yes Mr adult, go and work. Do you have the patience for that?

P.s: I'm probably older than most people on this thread. I just simply don't have the time for such a weak crowd. When more users can find their spine, then this cause will be worth my time.

This isn't about having a spine, this about having the common sense to realise that this is a complete waste of time. Why would anyone in their right mind rally behind a cause they dont believe in?

But keep on spouting and keep insulting those who disagree with you. That seems like the perfect way to get support.

So, you are a bally and want this to happen before ..... you know ..... daisy pushing, I can respect that.

I just simply don't have the time for such a weak crowd

And by this, I take it you are rejecting us as a bunch of sissies .... spineless little wussies. Oh well, who am I to argue ....

Will miss you.

Adios, Bon Chance, Auf Wiedersehen .... bis spater,

That's exactly right. That is exactly what I think of all you naysayers. You are so afraid of losing that you rather not fight at all.

However that's not even the worst. You are so afraid of others winning and you having to admit that you are wrong that you rather spend your time trying to derail a movement like this. Well that or you have a financial interest in this not going anywhere, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say it's the first.

Keyboard ninja badasss! ;)

In the time I have spent on this thread I have probably lost more income than many of you made the entire month, more than I would get out of a lawsuit. I can already hear all the naysayers saying "see, it isn't worth it. Just go to another isp". Not everything is just about money. Some things are more important than that, but I guess that's a bit hard for some to see.

This is now getting silly. When considered and informed opinions are called spinelessness, it's time to withdraw and put on the popcorn.

What irks me, though, is the gratuitous slandering of people. Wild accusations of malfeasance and male fides are most unseemly.

OK Mr. Keyboard Warrior. Give mommy back her laptop now, its naptime for you.

Amazing how such a seemingly intelligent(unbelievable considering his posts on this thread) and wealthy(he would like us to believe) guy doesn't understand you get what you pay for, get a high priority IS account and get flying ADSL but you pay a premium for it, simple.

This chump probably buys an entry level uncapped home use account and then tries downloading "stimulating visual footage" all day long and wonders why things won't go past 5kbs DL.

So the flash in pan really was a flash in the pan, what's news?

I got afrihost at the beginning of the month, speeds are awesome, why is this?

All I can say is the price is awesome, I got 50% off the first month(I must have followed someone's afrihost affiliate link at sometime) Gian I salute you!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand ............................ ?

I actually agree with the initiative. Although tbh i dont think much can come of it. Also- "get high priority account" is just in my opinion a strategy used by local isps to squeeze more cash. If you look at other providers overseas many just have speeds i.e. pay for the service. Not pay R10 extra and we'll give u slightly less crappy service.
My major argument is this though (Especially with afrihost). The poor service levels and heavy shaping which you now have on uncapped accounts (even business) is not solely to protect users. Its to be able to squeeze users usage allowing them to buy less capacity than is actually needed. Yes, abuse occurs and yes p2p should be throttled and users controlled. But Afrihost is so aggressive with shaping at times (and so many people have complained about lack of capacity in various jhb regions) that its clear that they'd rather shape then meet standards. A national protector should in this case define standards of quality i.e. for x user x amount of bandwidth - i think that where's the case would lie.

Just a thought, if you really were taking legal action then maybe having this whole thread open for 'everyone' to read won't help your cause.

But think about this, in a highly competitive market like adsl data if these service providers were truly milking the hell out of us some entrepreneur would step in and offer a cheaper product to easy peasy capture the market?

Perhaps the issue isn't the local ISPs but the big guys like telkom and the under sea cable operators? Who is really raking in the money from Sa's fixed broadband products, which are from a global perspective exhorbitantly expensive?

I'm on board and know Afrihost and their tactics intimately.
