Afrihost/OpenWeb ADSL class-action lawsuit

"We always do our absolute best to deliver the best products and services to our clients."

Unfortunately phrases like this are empty words when one suffers constant connection resets and outages. In fact, they're not just empty words, they're an insult to your customers. Rather just don't say it. Just say you're battling, you're overextended, and you're desperately trying to figure something out. Because that's what I see: desperation.

You might do your best, but your best has been terrible since the day you switched to the MTN network. That was your turning point. Since then everything has been downhill. Basically since then you've been terrible, and then you shot yourself in the foot by offering dirt cheap mobile data right around the time things seemed to have stabilised. I've evaded the worst of it because I had the foresight to go to a capped account, while uncapped accounts were savaged and brutalised on a daily basis. But now even capped accounts seem to be in the crosshairs.

I'm keeping my eyes open for a suitable offer from one of your competitors and as soon as that happens, I'm out. I am surprised that you guys are still in business - you must have a genius in your finance department. You should shut down or spin off your mobile data offering, and stop taking on new customers - and then maybe you'd be able to manage the load, but from my vantage point, you guys are just way overextended, and are holding on by a thread. I'm so frustrated with my service now that I can't wait to go elsewhere.

Afrihost for me has never given a days hassle and always fast, that's on a capped account. From my experience it's more your location/local congestion and exchange issue's.

About 2 months on Afrihost business uncapped now and my leeches are going the clappers. No issue here - very nice in fact.

Suggest the OP changes from a steam-driven modem to an electronic one.

Likewise. Sure there've been some issues here and there, but generally resolved pretty quickly without me having to call Support. But overall Afrihost has been marvellous. And the new network is fast and stable.

And today I got another 124GB added as bonus. Thanks, Afrihost.

Hmmm.... well....

Afrihost have now publicly acknowledged on a good few occasions that they did indeed provide an inferior service for a good few months. This was repeated by Gian Visser himself at the MyBB 2015 Conference last month.

Gives the OP some ammo...

I would if it were true. But I'm one of the lucky ones I guess.

but again Mickey, if the consumer felt he wasnt being provided the best service, he/she is always open to find an alternative. Considering one is not locked into a 12/24 month contract, the flexibility of moving becomes alot easier.

You as a consumer deserves good service, for the money you pay, so thats fair enough. However, ive not read or seen any of the ISP's, without their issues, not CW, not VOX, not WA. Individually, and perhaps importantly, certain users are okay, others are not. So you have to then ask the question, are the issues area specific, is it an exchange issue, congestion perhaps in that area at that specific time. and you yourself know Mickey, everybody can be on the same line, same ISP, same capped account, but different experiences all together. Maybe thats just my thinking about all of these things right now
