I have no words to describe my utter disappointment with Afrihost's service. The only reason I've not moved to another ISP is that they are probably all the same. They all have great technology and infrastructure etc but they all employ people that are completely useless and disinterested. They all also have brilliant staff, but those are very difficult/impossible to find at AFrihost.

What to do? How can you make an ISP listen to a complaint that has been going on for 3 months without any attempt by their staff to resolve it? Is it even possible to contact management in an ISP or are they all just sitting in their ivory towers, taking our money every month because, well, we need them?

Can anyone recommend an ISP where management are approachable and where customer is king?

You eventually give up... and I suspect this is why they string us along...

I work as a web dev and i was needed some information on login in to the server as the client lost it , they gave it to me , no problem. Their phone service is horrible ( provided you qualify for it <----- this is real ) , disk space rubbish and all the peripherals. Sure you can et support if you choose above a certain package , and some more bandwidth allocation and space , but why pay triple for that when there are other guys offering the same for less.

Did you just create a new account?

Also, if there are "other guys" that offer the same for less, why not move to them?

I found with Afrihost it is very hit and miss when it comes to support. If the first person can't help me right then I contact them again until I get someone who can actually help. I've had some shocking support at Afrihost before.

No i did not create a new count i am referring to clients of mine. I am a web designer, developer so i come across many clients who are with them, and i tend try and move them. As the company i use i dont really have any affiliation or gain anything out of, i would love to, but i dont see how they could make a profit for what they are selling at. So its a purely unbiased opinion. Of course many [people are reluctant to change .

Perhaps you are right solitude it would be unwise of me to assume based on a few interactions however what they offer in terms of their competition is pathetic.

I have had two cases where they emailed clients of mine, whom are not that "tech savvy" stating their email usage is at its limit, and they need to pay ex amount or it will be cut off. Had my clients not panicked and asked me to look into it i would have been none the wiser. So i went on the server to find that in both cases the clients where no where near their usage limit.

I mean dont threaten a customer if they need to pay something in be civil about it. Even if you are wrong .

Having to struggle with Afrihost support at the moment, I have to agree that it's much easier at other companies. I deal with a lot of hosting companies and many will get back to you immediately. I've had some incredible support from other hosts before. Afrihost is difficult. It feels as if their support try as hard as possible to not take responsibility. Pass it on to someone else.

Tickets will go unanswered for days. Sometimes weeks.

It's frustrating.

AH is not the company it was years ago never mind all the excuses, promises and spin doctorering.

Just vote with your wallet and go to a proper ISP that actually delivers and gives you what you pay for.

How many times does a thread like this need to pop up before the person complaining about this company pulls their finger out their ass and just move to a different company that actually provides the service they pay for? Seriously. Is the search functionality broken on this site? Or is the multiple threads on the first page just too cumbersome for you to read and then go "instead of complaining again, like many others did, let me just move"?

Your problem here is you think an ISP is a Hosting provider for your servers. They're an internet service provider. You know the cable that comes from your phone line into your router? That. Afrihost is just another ISP, they don't do server hosting well, they don't specialize in it anymore, or if they did, did it very crappily until their ISP business took off and is most likely why they entered that space initially anyway.

If you are happy with your ADSL connection and browsing your prons. Stay with them.
If you're unhappy because your server is down constantly (like many others experience with them), then move your hosting services to a company that specializes in hosting services.

What use is it for you to complain about it and whine? Nothing. Vote with your wallet. Take money away from them and recommend to your friends / family and people who ask your opinion on which host to choose, away from them to avoid others making the same mistake.

True. Wasting time on creating or posting on other threads about it is exactly that...wasting time. Just move along to someone else that can provide the levels of service you believe is right for you. Not everyone will be in the same boat. Others are extremely happy with the provider you are unhappy about because of X and Y. The time one takes to post something could be used to look for "your next best thing".
