Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

I think it could be a fibre break in Cloetesville since VodaCom data is also out and I know these two share the same feed. Rain is up but dead slow.

I think vodacom gets overloaded whenever something is up with our fibre, because everyone climbs on mobile Internet. MTN must have less coverage or better capacity. Afrihost on mtn works OK for now.

I normally get between 200~300mbps on Vodacom 5G so I doubt it gets saturated, it seems dead off to me. Rain is definately saturated at the moment, it is under 1mbps where I normally get about 10.

Why is it changing all the time? cable faults? It seems to switch randomly but its happenign everyday which seems strange.

@Afrigirl Did Afrihost just go down in the Western Cape Northern Suburbs? Can you please confirm? Reports coming in via social media as well as DownDetector.

Addendum:

Confirmed with FF, this is an issue at Afrihost between their VLAN and those on the Axxess VLAN that get public IPs.

Getting better - but not perfect.

Please I need to have my daily coherent live meeting tomorrow morning.

Morning,

Sorry for the late reply. I'm away and have limited access to my laptop.

@Afrigirl did give me a call last night and together we did have a look at the graphs and indicators that would show if there was a general issue. It wasn't clear that there was a general issue and I asked @Afrigirl to log tickets for the complaints accordingly.

@Frogfoot Fibre Please can we provide accurate information to clients and not assume that the issue that Axxess is experiencing on their vlan automatically affects our clients to dismiss complaints made? Thanks.

If the issue comes up again please let us know.

We are moving away from Openserve and using Liquid Transit more. From the trace provided it looks like with Liquid traffic for KZN is going via JHB and not directly via France from KZN like it used to with Openserve.

I will have to follow up and log a ticket with our transit provider to see if we can optimize the routing for KZN.

@Afrigirl @AfriNatic These reports of really slow downloaded on 100 lines, are they happening across the whole Afrihost network or are they isolated to certain regions? Are they related to certain FNO's?

There are no general issues on our network. The issue that was specifically affecting Vuma Villages on Afrihost has since been resolved. The current issues experienced is a known issue with the DFA backhaul to certain OLT's in the East Rand and Sandton area. Vumatel is aware of the issue even if their social media team might deny this. We have had a number of meetings with Vumatel regarding a number of issues and we are hopeful the problems will be resolved soon.

Why the move to Liquid? As I see CISP also seems be moving over to Liquid, and it's just a nightmare. So was wanting to move accounts over to Afrihost, but now I'm gonna rather keep an eye on the forum for the next few months.
