Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Seems sorted this morning.

Yes, worked perfectly when I woke up.

Interesting that your pings are over IPv6 now. I've been struggling to get IPv6 working on Afrihost+Frogfoot for almost a year now. Checked again this morning and my DHCP6 requests still remain unanswered. We're in the same neighbourhood on the same GPON. @Frogfoot Fibre How come he has IPv6 and I don't?

Morning,

Sorry for the late reply. I'm away and have limited access to my laptop.

@Afrigirl did give me a call last night and together we did have a look at the graphs and indicators that would show if there was a general issue. It wasn't clear that there was a general issue and I asked @Afrigirl to log tickets for the complaints accordingly.

@Frogfoot Fibre Please can we provide accurate information to clients and not assume that the issue that Axxess is experiencing on their vlan automatically affects our clients to dismiss complaints made? Thanks.

If the issue comes up again please let us know.

@AfriNatic @Afrigirl thanks for the update this morning. I still don't see any mention of the outage on either Afrihost's or Frogfoot's status pages. Could you please fix this, and in the future please don't ignore us again like last night. If more than one person in the same neighbourhood reports the same issue, there is clearly something wrong. We were without internet the most of the evening and night, and except for your message this morning there are no official acknowledgements that anything was wrong.

Just had another outage of a couple of minutes, Frogfoot, Welgevonden, Stellenbosch. Again MTR showed 100% loss between my router and the first next hop.

(screenshot from after it came back up, slowly decreasing loss from 100%)

I was struggling with slow speeds on YouTube when @AfriNatic suggested I turn on IPv6 - and it work, plus for a noob like me it was real easy since my router has a setting tab just for IPv6.

My fibre line has been yoyo-ing for the past week or so.

Support has reset the line, but it's still happening - right now, in fact.

Is this a Frogfoot issue, or what?
based on frogfoot's history i wont be surprised

Hi

Are you still experiencing issues?

Why the move to Liquid? As I see CISP also seems be moving over to Liquid, and it's just a nightmare. So was wanting to move accounts over to Afrihost, but now I'm gonna rather keep an eye on the forum for the next few months.

Some contracts are coming to an end and Liquid offered what we were looking for in all regions.

We need to make some adjustments as time goes on. Currently, we still have Openserve direct routes from KZN to France. If there is any issue with a specific game or IP range then we can make some adjustments if possible.

Slow download speeds again Vumatel Aerial / Villages

Looking to move to Webafrica for R19 first month and R1099 for 1000/250Mbps. Will this help?

Hi

Apologies for the late reply.

Vumatel is busy with an aggressive upgrade process and has completed 68% of the problem OLT's. The upgrade phase started on the 11th of December and is currently ongoing. The remaining 32% of OLT's that are still affected will be completed by the 29th of December if there isn't any issue that arises.

So I assume that means no more slow speeds and intermittent connection once finished?

I'm investigating an issue with our JHB Frogfoot vlan. Clients are currently experiencing no service after a router reboot or after loadshedding.

Hi

I have logged this now with the carrier but the solution would be to favour Openserv for this again which might not be a solution in the long term if Liquid Telecoms becomes the main carrier for KZN.

I will keep you posted on the feedback.
Esssh... hopefully things improve

@AfriNatic 7 days of congested High Pings and Low Speeds going from 25meg to (250meg normal speed) from 18:00PM to 22:00PM.

Fault was logged with afrigirl still not resolved and said was resolved on the 16th but it's not the case.

Its worse!

250meg download 112meg upload and 5 ping to durban and on local hops 5-8 ping.
That was the Normal before this mess started 7 days ago.
