Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

thanks, no joy there either...

maybe it's the Wifi card itself? It's an Intel Wireless AC-9462, and I see many people complain about it online.
did you run tcpoptimizer as administrator?
try a cable to eliminate windows issue?

Ooof yeah Vodacom. Someone did complain before took them weeks. Once it's in the holding pool the line will still work. Have you tried using a capped adsl account to test?

Just got off the phone again with Vodacom. After asking for a supervisor to provide me feedback, someone from customer service calls me and says the feedback from the supervisor I requested to speak to is that Openserve requires a 30 day notice for all ONT migrations. So they will only release the ONT to Openserve after 30 days.

This is completely different to what they told me when I cancelled my service with them a few days ago. I argued with them that they cannot rightfully cancel my internet service (which is now inactive) but still hold the line occupied for 30 days? Eventually just gave up, the person I spoke to doesn't understand the difference between a line migration and cancellation, and won't let me speak to anyone else.

If anyone here is considering Vodacom as an ISP, don't do it!

They are lying and incompetent. It's a sad. When I cancelled with Supersonic my service was cancelled on the 26th line was in the holding pool an hour or so later. Line was working fine but Afrihost api did not migrate it so it stopped working like 7 days later. They manually migrated and 1 hour later it was working fine.

Hi

It was done at the time of the post - i.e. 6.29PM.
Gigabit LAN
One device streaming DSTV Now - which would not be the reason why my line is 80mbps short of it's speed.

For example I have two devices streaming video right now and this is my speedtest (over LAN)

ISP: Afrihost Other
Ping: 3ms
Download: 95.21Mbps
Upload: 47.3Mbps

Mornings its always ok, as the day goes by it gets slower and slower - but the pings remain the same.
It definitely sounds like congestion, the more people start connecting the poorer your experience becomes. A few fibre providers have come to say that they are working on increasing capacity due to the demand. I'm sure they will want this done during the lockdown, otherwise it would defeat the purpose.

Can you (Afrihost) ask OpenServe about their congestion in CPT & if they've been working on it? My line is hitting 87 now where yesterday this time it was pushing around 30. As mentioned my pings remain unaffected even when its "congested" I still get a 3ms ping with speedtest.

this process does not require a router restart right?
A router restart is always recommended. So on the 3rd please start with a router restart and test again. Let me know if you don't see improvements, you might start noticing changes even sooner than that.

Spoke too soon, just now it's down again

Congestion with a ping like this?

Hey @AfriPeeps

A bit confused. I'm a potential new (well, oldish new) customer and hoping to sign up for Vuma fibre.

I had a look this morning, and saw this new (50Down 20Up) package option:

Which I was super stoked about! I did double check that it was valid with a call centre agent:

However when I checked back a few minutes ago, the option has gone. Any idea whether this is a mistake, or whether this package option was never an option :)

Thanks!
