Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

Thank you for your enthusiasm, but I was promised feedback yesterday from a person at the call center and I'm still waiting. This is a rocky start in a trust relationship with a new isp.
Well, you can either wait for the call centre or do as AfriNatic asked.... your choice... personally I'll go with option 2

How long does it take to obtain the free upgrade? I applied online yesterday
I see my free upgrade is updated on the App. But line speed tests still show 100/50 (not close to 200/100). I turned off the ONT and D-Link Router and waited for over 20 secs--then turned them back on --I still not see speed bump to 200/100. I guess I will wait for their SMS to confirm when this upgrade is active?

If you suspect a delay in the free upgrade send me a pm with the clientzone email so I can see if there is something I can do to speed it up. ;)

I would love to wait for Afrihost to get their act together but, sadly time is not on my side. I work from home and my daughter is writing exams for her honours degree ONLINE so as you can see there is urgency in my request.

So I assume you've already contacted @AfriNatic then... which is what I suggested on Saturday already ?

My apologies, I must be a complete idiot for thinking all the platforms Afrihost provides would have been sufficient to get the job done.
You are your own worst enemy. Everybody here knows you get better support though the MyBB rep than with their other support channels.

@wingnut771 and @Luke7777. Again my sincere apologies. I don't have time to hang out on forums all day to make snarky comments at people who are frustrated with the service they receive from their ISP's but, good on you for having a hobby that keeps you out of trouble. Just explain the purpose of the call centre, WhatsApp group, email and sms services?

Clearly you have more than enough time to waste on arguing, instead of accepting help when it's being offered... who cares which "branch" of AH it comes from. Nobody made any comments at you... you came up with the "complete idiot' yourself :) You came to this forum to complain about the service, but then you don't accept the help offered by the AH rep on this forum ?

@AfriNatic it appears that Afrihost network changes from last week has caused some issues. (Octotel + Afrihost)
When I setup a port forward on my local router / firewall and I try to access it remotely I get nothing, I cant telnet to it etc.
I can now see that when I check my public IP I get: 169.1.11.x but the actual IP assigned to my router is 100.99.3.x?

So now if anyone uses a service like noip or dyndns it will no longer work as the wrong address is assigned.
This can also be replicated by searching in Google for: What is my IP
It will display an address that does not match what is assigned to your router.

This is a huge issue for me as I am writing tutorials and can no longer show examples of certain setups, solutions etc.
When was this changed? why was no one notified?
This will surely have a mayor impact on a ton of people, causing outages, unexpected network issues and downtime etc.

Option 1: 5 second PM to Rep that knows your issue.
Option 2: Go through a call centre, spend 5 minutes explaining your problem after waiting in line.

I know which one I would choose.

How long does it take after selecting the upgrade before I should receive an email/sms about it.
I "successfully upgraded" using the promo link but haven't seen any changes or communication about the upgrade so far.

Afrihosts support is not great. I logged a ticket days ago still no feedback, I then logged a WhatsApp request which was only replied to 3+ hours later. I had to go onto a forum (here) that has nothing to do with Afrihost to get support...I feel you, its utter BS.

I'm confused... This *is* the Afrihost Support Forum ? To be honest... In all my years with AH, I've never made use of any of their other support channels... always been the forum and always been responded to. Not always to my liking, but still responded to :)

Where on their website or portal does it state that their support channel or one of their support channels is on MyBroadband's forums...?

I assume this issue goes hand in hand with the Octotel change from, the 1st...
Increase upload speeds then remove the ability to do any kind of NAT / Port forwarding?
Has anyone else suddenly gone down and cant figure it out, or have solutions that stopped working from the 1st +/-?
Has your smart-home systems, stopped working remotely, your CCTV etc?
No access to your home PC/network remotely anymore etc...
@AfriNatic any feedback?
