Backblaze backup to EU DC is extremely slow, they offer a 15 day trial. Could someone else test if it's just me or Afrihost.

Openserve 200/100, going at 11Mbps up...

I finally have fibre after what felt like for ever, Openserve installed the ONT earlier today and thanks to some help from AfriNatic I'm up and running.

A couple questions, I have a WS5200 and also a B618, have anyone managed to successfully mesh these 2 together?
Also is it possible to use the B618 for the PPPOE connection rather than the WS5200? I want to place the B618 in the corner next to the ONT and then use the WS5200 in a more central part of the house since it has better wifi.

All of this will be temporary till I have the funds to maybe buy a second WS5200 and also wire the routers rather than just connecting them wirelessly, but for now I just want to get some decent wifi coverage going in the house.

We are actually giving the HUAWEI WS7100 AX3 WIFI6 with new fibre orders or clients order the device only.

The Huawei B618 can definitely be used as the WAN router. Under Ethernet settings you would change it from Auto to PPPoE for Openserve and use the WAN port of the B618 to connect to the ONT.

How well the WS5200 will work in terms of a connected mesh system I'm not quite sure as I think the B618 might be a bit old to have the wifi mesh support but cabled it should work.

If you can you can try to budget for the Huawei WS7100 as it's wifi6 capable which would be ideal for a mesh system as future proofing. :)

We are aware of the MetroFibre issues experienced. We are engaging with MetroFibre on the matter.

Ok cool thanks, I presume this new WS7100 and the WS5200 I currently have will mesh seamlessly?

I tested Backblaze on 5G, LTE, and fibre on multiple ISPs and it's terrible on all :-( so now that the EU/UK issues are fixed I'm quite happy with Afrihost's general service right now  Let me keep my IPv4 and you won't hear a peep from me:p

Yes they will. I believe any Huawei router with the Huawei Hi Link sign will be able to mesh seamlessly.

There isn;t much difference between the 2 except for a better CPU and obviously the biggest feature wifi6

Definitely. You might just get IPv6 as an option later on. ;)

looks like the FF upgrades are already working

Yes we have completed the changes around the 19th or so ahead of the billing run to make sure that the billing is correct and then once Frogfoot changed the line speeds clients were upgraded automatically.

@AfriNatic

Has the Frogfoot lines been upgraded yet?

I've been getting a consistent 23 Down and 31 Up for the past 2 days.

Any idea why it's not 30 Down?
