Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

I did not get myBB notifications for this thread, so missed a few days, but here goes:
I cancelled my Openserve/Telkom line on the 26 Jul effective 31 Jul. Telkom cancelled it on the 30th and their retentions dept phoned me on the 31st to convince me not to cancel.

Vumatel installer arrived after 8 and was done just after 10. I did a D-link router setup after 11 and activated the account. It was all good, having gone from Tellom 20mbps to AH 100mbps.

I had some issues for the first 2 days. Every device got the message to activate the fibre package. We were still able to browse if selecting 'Keep connection', but certain apps like News24 would show as offline. Rr-activating the line would sort things out, but after a while it would seem to lose the activation.

Logged a support ticket on Thurs eve and again on Friday eve. Sent PM to Afriman as well, but told him I'll resolve it with the support guys on Friday eve / Sat morning.

Received a msg and later a call from the support guy on Sat morning. Router reset, re-configured and fibre line re-activated. All good since then.

I suspect there might have been a mix-up with my other Vumatel package (to be migrated to AH on 1 Sep).

Hi sammi001, these speeds look pretty good, and I hope that your speeds have been good this far . If there is anything you may need assistance with please let me know.

AfriFella had to take some time off - emergency at home. He's replying to PM where he can.

Please message me if there is anything you need.
Pls tell me u u know what our problem is.. God help me...

My D-Link is perfect except for the 5Ghz wifi which just is not working as expected. I reverted back to my Tenda AC10 which is an amazing device BTW. So Super stable and fast. Maybe think of getting one? I paid like R470 for mine from Geewiz.

You need to contact Afrihost and ask for the D-Link to be swapped out.
I'm having the same issue. Connection's still ok via ethernet it's just the wifi completely disappears from being broadcast. Woke up to it this morning so I went into settings and changed the wireless modes from mixed to just 802.11 N for 2.4Ghz and 802.11 AC for 5Ghz. Will report back if that works. If not I'll ask for a replacement.

Edit: and my line hasn't fully migrated so not getting new speed which = not having a good time yet.

Got this issue and been wondering where it's coming from as it happens to me too on MetroFibre. Not a "Pure Fibre" issue though as I've had this issues since i set up everything over a year ago and always suspected it was Tp-Link Ethernet over Powerline tech i use but i noticed the same happening directly from the black D-Link wifi router supplied too i.e. no disruption in wifi signal but the internet literally seems to disconnect for a period of time.

So i'm thinking those D-Links may be buggy. Mostly a minor inconvenience as it resolves itself over 60-90seconds but annoying when watching a movie that hasn't buffered enough or short so buffering wont help prevent noticing it.. e.g. youTube stuff. Guess I could buy another router but meh.. R1-2k vs 60secods every few days when i happen to be watching tv.

I'm actually floored here. Don't know if i should laugh or cry. I know this is not my line - but like i said before - i'm looking at this scenario as a measure of what's waiting for me at the end of the month, and I'm going to bail if this level of service continues.

I totally understand your anger toward us, and now Stormer might be without the internet for the weekend. I am however trying to get through to the Afrihost service delivery manager at Vumatel so that they can fast track this.

With regards to the Developer issue, I don't know how many developers Vuma has or if they were not in today because we are not able to talk to them directly, only the Afrihost service manager delivery at Vumatel can talk to them on our behalf. Most Dev teams do not interact directly with the clients. Perhaps if we had anticipated this delays in advance we would have prepared for it.
@AfriMan

I feel for you guys. At least I have a working connection even though I'm "cancelled". So still waiting on the migration to AH, but I'd also be majorly pissed if I were in your shoes.

Just to report on this thread. A friend and I moved from CISP to Afrihost Pure Fibre on 1 August 2019. There were issues with the migration and we immediately contacted AH via mybroadband, phone and WhatsApp. They worked with us to troubleshoot and identify what was causing the problems and by midday both of us were up and running on AH. Speeds have been great since then on the 200mbps product and the client zone information and convenience is certainly a notch above anything CISP had. Overall, I am happy with AH so far and once the initial teething problems are over I am sure others will be too. Now, we are just waiting for their accounts team to refund the one month penalty charged by CISP for cancelling.

Hang in there guys, I am sure it will be resolved soon and you will be enjoying pure Fibre.

BTW for those waiting for the migration to happen, if you are on VUMA and moving from another ISP to AH then once it is done you get an automated SMS and email from AH. If you receive the sms then you in the business. Till the sms comes, I think you can assume that the line is still somewhere in the pool. Once I had someone at AH looking into my migration all I needed to do was reboot the CPE device and my router, the sms appeared and I was online. You will also see the connected status on client zone. Hope this info helps people waiting with anticipation.

Sounds like we are talking to BOTS! i mean really now. We have been dealing with this since last week @STORMERSFAN

At the time of the delay, AfriMan had suspected that Vuma just needed to refresh my Mac address on their side and rebooting everything ensured it was refreshed.

Our problem is something to do with a port or something..
