For Cape Town, what is the primary and secondary DNS?
Mine has auto-selected 169.1.1.2 & 169.1.1.9

Not sure what CPT is but I believe JHB is 169.1.1.1

I use Quad9 and Google as my DNS. 9.9.9.9 and 8.8.8.8

If I do trace routes to the DNS servers I find that Quad9 is basically the same as the Afrihost DNS server if I compared the trace route.

Well it depends if you are going to miss that extra 100Mbps upload speed. Most of the content is local so basically most of the traffic will be very fast like downloading from Google drive or basically any local traffic.
Yip. Going to run on the 1Gig package for this month, then test the 200/200 package next month.

I did not get myBB notifications for this thread, so missed a few days, but here goes:
I cancelled my Openserve/Telkom line on the 26 Jul effective 31 Jul. Telkom cancelled it on the 30th and their retentions dept phoned me on the 31st to convince me not to cancel.

Vumatel installer arrived after 8 and was done just after 10. I did a D-link router setup after 11 and activated the account. It was all good, having gone from Tellom 20mbps to AH 100mbps.

I had some issues for the first 2 days. Every device got the message to activate the fibre package. We were still able to browse if selecting 'Keep connection', but certain apps like News24 would show as offline. Rr-activating the line would sort things out, but after a while it would seem to lose the activation.

Logged a support ticket on Thurs eve and again on Friday eve. Sent PM to Afriman as well, but told him I'll resolve it with the support guys on Friday eve / Sat morning.

Received a msg and later a call from the support guy on Sat morning. Router reset, re-configured and fibre line re-activated. All good since then.

I suspect there might have been a mix-up with my other Vumatel package (to be migrated to AH on 1 Sep).

I really appreciate it STORMERSFAN :)
Won't let you down.
@esmile @AfriFella the day of reckoning has arrived.. It's been hell been without a connection for 4 solid days.. Please treat US as your no 1 priority today.. We need to be connected TODAY.. And please keep us updated.. I do no want to run after u guys today.. I think myself and esmile have been more than patient and understanding.

Just a quick report back.

I migrated to a 200/100 Pure Fibre deal (on Openserve) just over 2 weeks ago, and I have had consistently good speeds, so nothing to complain about there at all. It's been great!

However, at least once a day, the connection drops and I have to unplug and plug in the power to the router to get connected again. I am using the free Afrihost router. Any ideas as to what is causing this and how to fix it?

Could be the router itself. Do you have a spare router to test with?

Unfortunately not.

My D-Link is perfect except for the 5Ghz wifi which just is not working as expected. I reverted back to my Tenda AC10 which is an amazing device BTW. So Super stable and fast. Maybe think of getting one? I paid like R470 for mine from Geewiz.

You need to contact Afrihost and ask for the D-Link to be swapped out.

I'm having the same issue. Connection's still ok via ethernet it's just the wifi completely disappears from being broadcast. Woke up to it this morning so I went into settings and changed the wireless modes from mixed to just 802.11 N for 2.4Ghz and 802.11 AC for 5Ghz. Will report back if that works. If not I'll ask for a replacement.

Edit: and my line hasn't fully migrated so not getting new speed which = not having a good time yet.

Hi DinoPat, I sincerely apologize for the late response to your message. After conducting these changes to your router to try improve the connection, has there been any change, is it performing better than before, or would you like for us to look into this further for you?

I've just made the changes but will let you know if it doesn't last the whole day.
