Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

*Notice

We have picked up a large amount of Openserve lines have started Authenticating as UNKNOWN. This means the line is not identifying itself when authenticating on our network.

When clients Auth with a line as UNKNOWN the speeds are capped at 10Mbps down and up. We are investigating the matter with Openserve.

I didn't get a response to my previous post but can someone help me with a problem I've been having with Afrihost since 2 June. It appears that my ONT keeps dropping its default gateway so I then lose internet access. The attached is a test direct from the ONT.

I have had the ONT replaced by Metrofibre and a technician check the line. Metrofibre insist that everything is good on their end. I even had a senior engineer from Metrofibre check my line last night and he claimed that everything is up on their end and it has to be an internal network error with Afrihost. Needless to say, both Metrofibre and Afrihost are just blaming each other and I am no closer to a solution. It is hugely frustrating as I have basically been down now for 2 weeks.

My parents have exactly the same problem and I've just discovered that their neighbours are also reporting the issue.

Responded in the other thread.

Sorry I missed that post.

FYI.

We have updated the new Octotel speeds on the website and clientzone. Client should see the new speeds as soon as Octotel is done with their changes.

@AfriNatic My 200Mbps MFN is performing worse than when my line was 100Mbps. I have logged a ticket - seems your support team is scripting me again (JDP-439-77006).

Below test results done directly on ONT and router via cable. I repeat this was not done over WiFi

Hi,

I was the one that actually last replied to that ticket before you posted here.

We are investigating losses before the NNI which is causing slow international speeds.

@AfriNatic the OS issues still being worked on? My line just dropped (ONT had no connection) and went up again which is quite unusual since OS is pretty much rock solid 99.999% of the time

3x in the last few mins..

We are still seeing a large amount of clients Authenticating as UNKNOWN and working with Openserve on the issue.

Let me have a look at your line quickly to see what the sessions look like on your line.

my speed is still right so hopefully not unknown

Pings to Durban, from KZN South Coast finally improving on Openserve.
Been around 14-16ms since I first got Fibre in December and now suddenly like 8ms.

Keep it up!

@AfriNatic Are you aware of any issues ongoing in Alberton. My brother says his internet is dead. The FNO is SADV/Vumatel? He says the fibre light is still blinking
