I have noticed the B618 on Ethernet Wan doesn't perform so well.

You using Ethernet and not wifi right?

WIFI currently but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Here is on ethernet:

When I reset the router:

Not 500/250 but much better. Strange that it seems to just be the DL speed affected here.

EDIT: performed a few more tests all around the same as the last. Seems that 200Mbps is the max it can hit.

Drop me a pm to see if I can complete the change for you so you can get 500Mbps.

Hi guys

I just upgraded my package (Afrihost - Openserve) from 200 to 500 Megabit/s. The change became active today (it shows 500 in Clientzone) , but the download speed is still the same. Upload speed is now 200 in stead of 250. I have restarted my Huawei box (for lack of better description_, as well as my router (D-Link DIR-825ACG1 - Standard Router supplied by Afrihost).

I use Cat 6 Ethernet in my setup.

Is there anything else I can look at, Or anything that I need to change?

Edit: This is now solved. Perhaps the process just took a bit.

Hi guys. I have purefibre from Afrihost and using their Huawei WS7100 router because of wifi6. I also have a B618s-22d from my fixed lte days which I want to use as a range extender for the WS7100. Anyone know how I can go about setting this up? Preferably wirelessly? Thanks

B618 as far as I know cannot do bridge mode, but it should be as simple as setting the connection to automatic and then plugging a LAN cable into your WAN port and simply set up WIF how you'd want. This does mean it would Double NAT as the B618 would make its own network.

I don't think it has a repeater mode and even if it has, it would be horrible.

On another note, while Afrinatic is on leave, does anyone else know if Afrihost offers static IPs for IPV4 on Pure Fibre for OpenServe? Would like to host a Factorio server for a couple of friends and would prefer to not go the dynamic dns route.

Anyone else on Octotel, Cape Town, Southern Suburbs having network issues +/- 5 times a day.
For the last few weeks.
Support is ridiculous, they make you run the same tests over and over even 2 minutes after you have already run them then refuse to assist / escalate until you re run them all again.Screenshot 2021-08-30 164832.png

I did the OS 500mbps upgrade and ran a speed test just now, hit 525mbps but it went back down to 100mbps now on subsequent speed tests, I saw someone also spoke about this.

Similar situation - if I reconnect the fibre, I get the full 500mps. It the "degrades" down to 320mbs after a while...

might need a port reset if its hitting 100/100 and wont go above.. happened to me after my upgrade to 500.

Anyone have an idea what setup can help boost my WiFi connection? Before the upgrade I was hitting 200mbps but now it's about 120-140 (500mbps line). I also still need to reset my router every day or two as the speed decreases to nearly nothing. It's as if my speeds are shaped (which shouldn't be the case?).

I have a Huawei WS5200 that gets -78dBm. I'm literally one room next to my router room. I can hit 500mbps+ if I put my phone on the router or attach my laptop via ethernet but it's not ideal (Nokia put the router in my gym room of all gotdam places).

Anything I can do?

Via ethernet - seems limited to 100/100 now:

we are lost without @AfriNatic ... perhaps @AfriGuy can assist with (likely - im guessing) the port resets needed above.

with regards to speeding up your wifi for 500mbps over distance and through walls.. you're gonna need to upgrade from anything that you got free with Afrihost.

Similar problem here- router is the same, I wonder if that's the issue?

'Reconnect' seems to sort it out, but why should this be necessary?

Hi,

Can you send me a pm with your details for me to investigate the matter for you?

Hi,

Looks like the ethernet cable is on 100Mbps. Please check the cable is properly plugged into the router and ONT.

As speedtest of ~94Mbps up and down usually points to a cable/port speed issue.
