Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

@AfriGuy @AfriNatic @Afrihost-Gian, starting to think that this is a problem on Afrihost side and not Frogfoot.

The fault is with Frogfoot ME team. We are waiting for further feedback. We can't find any issues on our side but if it's an issue on our side I will definitely want the issue to fixed and resolved.

Sorry for the lack of feedback and support.

I'm trying to clear some of the queries. There is well over 60 messages. It will take me some time to clear.

Please also add @AfriGuy and @AfriFella to any messages sent.
@AfriNatic No need for you to apologize when your fellow Afri-people screw up your leave :) I think they forgot what customer service is all about

Hi,

We logged a fault with Frogfoot and Frogfoot ME team is investigating the issue.

We have noticed the drops on Menlo OLT 1,2 and 3.

I will revert back as soon as I have further feedback. Apologies for the issues.
@AfriNatic Thanks, I was actually reporting it on behalf of @ComputerEngineer... he's just down the road from me and I wasn't sure whether he's a member here. I remember we had the same issues last year some time before I gave up and when back to OS. Was around July

Is the internet down in Weltevreden Park/Roodepoort?
VumaTrenched

Or an Afrihost issue?

Yep. Probs a vuma issue. I’m in Durbanville, Cape Town. Vumatel / AH.

I wish to f** these isps would get their $**t together and learn to send notifications to affected customers.

Because sending an SMS to all clients that may or may not be affected at 10pm at night is a justifiable idea, assuming they did know exactly who was affected in a network they dont control. ;)

For what its worth, I heard from someone working at another ISP that VUMA did something funky tonight, but just seemed to be a flood of re-auths. Likely they're fiddling again or updating something they shouldn't :D

I have a rough list of disconnect times below. People with other ISPs (notably VOX and AXXESS) seem to be fine on FrogFoot, the only one giving issues in the area seems to be Afrihost from what I can tell

Hi @AfriGuy ,

How are you?

I am running a program called Dirac Live, which need to connect to the following servers:

IPv4 address for auth.connect.dirac.com
Domain Name Server IP: 18.159.11.124
Domain Name Server IP: 18.192.233.127

IPv4 address for calc.connect.dirac.com
Domain Name Server IP: 18.192.233.127
Domain Name Server IP: 18.159.11.124

IPv4 address for log.connect.dirac.com
Domain Name Server IP: 18.192.233.127
Domain Name Server IP: 18.159.11.124

But I am not able to connect to these, and a traceroute to these dies along the way at 52.93.57.35:

Target Name: 18.159.11.124 IP: 18.159.11.124

7 4 100 0 0 0 18.159.11.124 [18.159.11.124]

Could you please see on your end if any of these server IPs are blacklisted?

Thanks

Hey @Naks, I am checking on my end. Please also PM me your Afrihost Account Details.

Hey @Naks , from what we can see the IPs 18.159.11.124 & 18.192.233.127 as well as most of their neighbours are blocking traces and pings, It definitely seems as though those servers have an Access control list that denies everything but a whitelist of IPs.

When is the issue with youtube's terrible throughput and buffering going to be resolved? Nearly a week of this? Vumatel trenched in JHB.

Actually, this is not a new issue, Ive seen this happening in the past 2 months but it only lasts a for a short period during the week, now its proper buggered.
