I wasn't stupid enough to think that Frogfoot's maintenance yesterday would change anything, as I still firmly hold that this problem is Afrihost's ....... but a small little shred of hope did exist...

ANYWAY!!!!!!!

Another Pingplotter capture of the connection having a heart attack:

There is some capacity issues for google in JHB that Google alluded to in an ongoing escalation with Google Noc.

They are slipping in more EU servers.

The outgoing path is still via google jhb but we are not 100% sure what reverse path is but it's looking to be via nap also which is an issue.

KZN and CPT should not be seeing as many issues due to on-network caching servers in these regions.
Thanks E.

So JHB doesn’t have on-network caching servers ?

Last week sunday (7 days ago) I upgraded my 50/50 MFN line to 100/100. The next day the upgrade went through but only the upload, download stuck on 50mb. I log a fault, do the tests, by Thursday, I still have 50mb line so I upgrade to 200/200 so I can have faster than 50mb for the weekend. Today I still sit with 50mb line, still waiting for any action on 200mb upgrade. Still waiting for 100mb upgrade to complete successfully.

No we get it direct from google on peering at NAP. It was the best option due to the capacity available and direct peering.

In other regions like KZN and CPT it made more sense to have GCC cache servers to improve streaming instead of pulling the data from JHB.

Still no luck I see, we had to fight quite a bit but since have not seen a client with this issue anymore.

The poor dudes on leave. He'll be back 23rd. Things might start to move then.
The dudes a hard carry, probably the only reason I'm still here but the YouTube issue needs to be resolved. It's only an Afrihost problem. Twitch etc works fine

@AfriGuy Anyone on Frogfoot in the Menlo Park area having constant disconnection issues ... 2 hour intervals, 10 min at a time ?
YES! I'm having exactly the same issue. Afrihost + FrogFoot. Here is my log from the last few days, been driving me INSANE. DM me so we can see how close we really are to each other? Here is my log but it is by no means complete because I haven't been home and obviously during load shedding there is no way I can tell.

102.182.113.237 => afrihostza-cpt1 (102.182.112.0/23)

That is our own cache. Traffic levels are looking good.

There is currently 2 main issues. JHB directly from Google which is congested and traffic rerouted to the KZN public cache AS328365 which is congested during peak time. We are trying to steer traffic now to improve performance.

I thought you're on leave

Can't work on my client sites because of slow loading times again. YouTube is also buffering but refreshing fixes it most of the time.

I've sent everything through to Nicholas from NOC. Let's hope it helps him out. Want me to forward any of it to you @cavedog ?

Please enjoy your time off while you can as well!
