Still getting slow international loading of websites. This is ridiculous how long it's been happening. No packet loss, speeds are fine, and normal latency. Only noticing it to Europe, specifically Scandinavia and Switzerland

Hi,

We still experiencing issues with international speeds.

Browsing shouldn't be affected but could be slowed down due to DNS. Do you use different DNS settings in your router or on your devices?

You mean other than the auto dns? I've tried setting them back to default but it's the same. Normally I use quad 1 on router and devices. Even WARP is not helping like it used to with the websites and all my clients are international

If you are using warp and the sites still load slow then it's something else because warp completely bypasses our network and DNS. It might be on the device itself or the router?

It comes and goes. It started around the same time as the YouTube issues and only to EU

Any idea when the international will be fixed? Did a submarine fire a torpedo? Fishing trawler hook the thing? Been a long time with the bad international connection, starting to look over the fence.

Hi,

There is a capacity issue at LINX in London. We have an ETA of 6th April 2022 for the upgrades to be completed. We also managed to source some additional capacity for another provider but it's also been a bit of a delay to get that live.

Apologies for the issues faced.

Hi,

We are investigating degraded performance between Durban and JHB.

Apologies for the issues faced.

Hey!

Do you have any idea if there has been any further movement or development on ISP-710046? Two technicians did arrive on Wednesday last week, but I haven't heard anything since. Just curious!

(Also, reference via email was #IOS-478-77728)

Hi,

I just double checked the ticket and it's been closed after the techs visited the site.

Did they mention anything to you when they did the site visit?

Thank you so much for the update! ... this is so confusing, though.

I spoke to the techs and even did ping, traceroute and other tests in front of them to demonstrate the packet loss issue and they both agreed there was a problem. They kept trying to phone their office while they were here, but couldn't get through - so they told me they needed to go for now and that they would likely be returning to replace the ONT. I guess their office had other plans, though. xD

Where do we go from here? D:

Again, though - thank you for the assist and update.

I will log a new ticket for you to have the ONT swapped.

The weekend has been a bit sporadic in terms of performance on my line and have never had issues.

Centurion
Openserve
25Mbps
IPv6 enabled.
Auto DNS.

Netflix was a hit and miss, sometimes loading and not loading - multiple devices giving same error.
Video quality also shocking even though line speed shows full throughput.

Prime Video loads weird messages in Japanese and German - home page does not load and often after a device reset it then manages to find its feet again.

Youtube - streaming quality also not where it should be, video's take time to load, and sometimes the app doesn't resolve.

All of the above on wired and WIFI, didn't have these issues on IPv4, also all these issues happen even though full line speed is being achieved on speed tests. Router and ONT reset doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

Very interesting what you note on Prime and the weird locale stuff.
Sometimes when a new IP address space is allocated it takes a while for it to update and warm up - What if you test Prime with IPv6 off?

I recall when Afrihost got their new IPv4 space everyone enjoyed Netflix's US catalog for a while until it got updated. I consider maybe thats happening with Prime and IPv6, and its confused about where you are.
Just a guess!

Morning,

We have discovered an issue where Netflix on Ipv6 is served from our Durban cache if you are in Gauteng. That coupled with multiple NLD failures yesterday caused issues for clients.

We are working on making routing changes to improve the experience but there shouldn't be any general issues.

If you are still experiencing issues please send me a pm with your email for me to investigate the issue for you.
