Canceled my line with afrihost. Was asked if the line should be released straight away or at the end of April, seeing that I paid for April. I replied with end of April. Even received a confirmation that the line will be active until then.

Vuma cut the line today. Fun times.

Hi,

We don't release lines straight away unless a client asks for it specifically.

Can you please send me a pm with your email address so I can investigate what happened?

God forbid we got fiber in SA set up like DSL where we are not locked into terrible service. At least back in the day when Afrihost would be falling apart and their PR teams are spamming these forums, you could just hop onto dsl account of a competent ISP, and wait till Afrihost sorted their issues out.

Not anymore sadly.

If anyone needs assistance with your Afrihost issues, please do just ping me. I will be way more useful than the PR person who just leads you around in circles !

Not sure what you are trying to achieve here.

Ill achieve way more than leading people in circles for nearly a week when the issue resides on Afrihosts side. I can offer people multiple solutions to get around Afrihosts hidden throttling and terrible routing.

Hi,

We don't throttle fibre accounts and I think our network routing is relatively good.

You are PR mate, of course you do lol.

Can we get any updates on the terrible speeds that clearly multiple people are having ? And not another backwards question implying its our lines/hardware.

While you work on that, ill handle this thread. Get on it !

Thanks !

Thinking routing is good, and it being good, is vastly different things.
As you can see from this screenshot.

Update on this. So the way I understood it is once your line is pending cancelation the next ISP can grab the line if you placed an order with a new ISP.

I haven't placed any order yet with another ISP, however, another user staying around the corner from me in a complex did.The unit number in the complex is the same as my house number. The user or the ISP got the address wrong. Instead of using the complex name and unit number they used the street name and number. His ordered fibre is active at my house now.

The user ordered fibre on the same day I cancelled mine. They stay around the corner from me and we share the same house number. What are the odds!!

There are a few things here that make it blazingly clear you might have no idea what you're on about:

A) The ping is perfect, ergo, no issues with the routing.
B) You're testing with S3 and GDrive. These have many many nodes of entry and exit, are you sure your endpoint is consistent? Are you sure there is no inherant issue with these nodes?
C) If you change to a VPN or something else, are you sure you still access the same nodes that were giving you an issue before?

Sigh

My Netflix is buffering all the time now. Is this still an issue?
Starting to regret my move from Telkom

Hi,

Netflix is not affected by any issues.

Are you still experiencing issues with watching Netflix.

For Netflix to buffer dam  think it can even run on a 4mbps adsl
People are getting sub 4mbps speeds to many different things when using Afrihost, for over a week now. Check their Status page on their website , looks like Christmas came early.

And as per normal, AfriNatic is sure its not them, and it must be your line mate. Solar Flare i guess.

No internet, Rivonia, Vumatel. Any word on what’s the issue?
Afrihost just went out our end too, Randburg. VT CPE shows connected their end. Router shows internet disconnected, no WAN assigned.

Hi,

We are currently experiencing very high support request on whatsapp, call backs and tickets.

We are investigating a suspected Vuma outage affecting clients in Gauteng.

It seems wide spread but not official confirmation yet.

Now imagine you started investigating it a week ago when you were being informed about it. ;)

Free support tip, no charge mate, unlike swapping ISPs
