Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

F. Y. I.. Neighbour Ordered Fibre on Monday.. Up and running about 20 mins ago.. Admittedly it was not a brand new installation but still good service.

How does the installation process work?
Afrihost told me that they will courier my router as soon as my area goes live.

Someone phoned me yesterday to make an appointment for installation on behalf of RSAWEB, as my area is going live the 17th.
I told them that I pre-booked with Afrihost.

Also received the following email from RSAWEB, but nothing from Afrihost:

"As you know, your fibre to the home order is pending network completion. We just wanted to give you an ETA for your order according to what has been communicated to us by OCTOTEL

They have let us know that they estimate your fibre build will be completed on Jul 17, 2020

Please note this is an estimate and not the actual date.

I know that having to wait can be frustrating, thank you for your patience. I’m always here if you have any questions."


I'm waiting on a response from Afrihost, cause I'm confused.

Did you place an order with RSAWeb? I know RSAWeb and Octotel share directors or investors or something like that not too sure but if you have ordered with Afrihost you should be hearing from Afrihost soon.

Nothing I'm aware off. Network is purring along very nicely. You seeing some issues?

I have responded to your email. I managed to place an order for you manually. I have also send your order number to you. Expect a call from Octotel to install this order soon.

As for the RSAWeb order you can tell them to cancel that as it was not us who placed that order.

After reading the email from Gian today, I'm just realizing that Afrihost didn't double my speed to 40mb when I downgraded to 20mb in April :( I thought the double speed fibre ended a while back :(

What the frick Afrihost?

This usually happens on a weekly basis. Your B number might have slipped through the cracks and I see that Openserve aren't upgrading anymore most likely due to the double speed promo ending soon.
 
Sunday I came home my fibre was not working. After contacting support it came down to the router was faulty. It wont do a hard reset and you cannot access it through its IP address. Support gave me a escalation number and said the router would be picked up and a new one delivered as it is less than a year old.

Yesterday I contacted support again and asked what was happening and the support said to me they reset my connection. So who knows what the escalation number was really for. She then told me to go to client zone and go to orders and exchange my router. When I go there I get a message to say I may not exchange my router due to Covid.

It looks like your support staff just pass the buck and nothing isresolved and I feel very let down. Afrihost what is the solution?
