Well guess what.

Im capped as i woke up this morning ! i never used the account last month as it was capped from overusage the previous month. Now its capped again ! before i've used it :/

I now put Afrihost a league below telkom.

And if they can roll over my over usage, why can't the carry over my underusage ?

Someone at Afrihost, pls reset my bandwidth.

Haven't you been flamed for this already?

You want them to give you bandwidth for free?...

Why not try find out how much bandwidth they reckon you've used....

yes i have :P

but this is two months over, and i would like people to know that afrihost isnt perfect! and also what can happen.

Imagine if a BMW got released thats brakes didnt work, but no one said anything, cause its BMW... get my point ;)

No,

Your situation is more along the lines of

You rent a BMW to do 1000kms, you do 4000kms... and then expect the rental agency to NOT try and recoup the overusage you've done.

That's true but doesn't Afrihost also bear some responsibility for not hard capping his account properly?

no... its more like saying the rental company gave you petrol for 1000km.

that petrol got you 4000km's so now they want to charge you for the extra.

I'm not saying Afrihost don't hold SOME of the responsibility for not hardcapping...

But 4cer seems to have blown over his cap by quite a large margin... so must have been downloading a HELL of a lot of stuff.

I agree with Toxic on this.

But I also agree with the OP that underusage should carry over :p

True, but I still think that if their contractual responsibility is to hardcap they should bear any losses if they don't implement it correctly, not pass it on to someone else. AFAIK most of the other major ISPs don't do this, I've never had it with WA for instance.

i signed up with afrihost a month or two ago(cant remember), and have always been hardcapped. they send me sms's and email notifying me how much cap i've used.

what package did u sign up for?

Edit: and if i reach my limit they disable my account till next month.

yes it should god damn.. :\

We pay through the ass for data and the least they can do is allow us to use it on our own terms

this morning ive been capped as well BUT ... it shows i have 9.960 gigs free ... no support on a sunday ... sent an email waiting for a response ... it carried over 40meg from last months usage that i went over with ... lol ... it should then also work the other way if i dont use all my cap carry it over ... my case is a lil differrent to the op. where are the afrihost mybroadband reps?

Hrm, I had a similar problem last month. Admittedly I overshot by a fair margin, then I tried to top-up a couple of times & the topups were added to the deficit I already built up.

To be honest, I can't really say anything against it. They're clearly subsidising the price already, to expect them to then also allow you to do the customary last day dl'ing sprint that most of us do is asking a bit much. The majority of people who overshoot accidentally will do so by a few hundred megs at most. If you overshoot by a few gigs and expect a company to simply eat that loss when they're already eating a loss on your normal usage is being a bit unfair.

would have thought you'd have learned after the last thread like this that you started 4cer.....

and you were expecting ? theyre selling to you below their cost and now you expect them to give away bandwidth ?

Well they do resell the underusage, so why not subtract overusage, which they clearly allowed as they were lax in capping in time, from the underusage pool and then sell resell the difference. It's like anything in South Africa, a money making scam.

He expects them to cap properly.
So honesty on his part doesn't come into the equation ? Rather that let the service provider know that his still able to use his service after his allocated usage has been used up, he continues to use more than double his allocation and now feels wronged ?

Where did honesty go??? It is not your right to rip off someone because they did not see it fit to treat you like a child....

Youre a bunch of dishonest thieves. No better than the common criminal
