I had this issue 3 hours ago. Called em and they fixed it with a port reset and router reset.

Thing is, my OW account wouldn't auth either. Somehow this is linked to AH DSL line rentals.

I can auth with any other account accept with afrihost.

my line is with telkom so the problem is on there end.

My line is with AH and I can't auth for jack without a port and router reset.

I got mine running so I'm happy :p

Got dc'd then incorrect username/password. Pathetic - how many times has this happened recently?

We have logged this officially with Telkom so it is on record. Why it only affects us and not other ISPs, we don't know. I can confirm that a workaround was put in place to compensate for the problem, while we wait for Telkom to address this. We'll keep you informed as we receive more information.

Did you get more info from Telkom on this matter??

Just saw this on Afrihost's FB page

"We are experiencing problems authenticating new ADSL sessions. Engineers are working on this urgently & we apologise for the inconvenience"

So I am wondering, what work-around will be used this week for the authentication issues experienced *shrug*

Michael

I guess just keep trying until it auths, have done so and eventually it goes through.

Well, I'm authenticating, but

Test conducted on 4/9/2013 9:12:28 PM

Download Speed: 817 kbps (102.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 80 kbps (10 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 717 ms

10Mbps line btw.

Yeah, this has happend before and a few times, each work around was supposed to sort this out so it "does not happen again" I guess the workaround for the workaround did not work for this work around. :)

Looks like we're having issues with authentications. We're busy looking into the cause now.

From what we can see, authentications started slowing down about an hour or so ago, and stopped at one point, and seem to be slower than usual, though it does seem like many accounts are still authenticating.

We're busy working on this, and we'll make sure we investigate every solution to get this sorted quickly.

As soon as I have more info on the cause and resolution, I will update everyone. Please don't disconnect for now, until we know this is sorted. Connected sessions should be fine and not affected.

Looks like everything is back to normal now. We're still investigating the cause, but at least services should be stable. MTN are also implementing some new failsafes to help cope better with these kinds of issues.]

If you can get online, please reboot your router. Otherwise everyone should be connected as normal. If not, please drop me a PM so I can help ASAP :)

Thanks for your patience :)

My download speed on my 1mb account seems to be limited to about 70kb/s. Tried using the "Fix My Line" function in the clientzone but it doesn't seem to be working and keeps stating "An error occurred". Any help with this?
