Yes overseas link seem very slow this morning
Just signed up with Afrigamer.
Get 220ms to UK servers (BF3) using Telkominternet, thought I would treat myself by getting "gamer" latency.

Afrihost, lol.
You do know the undersea cable that normally carries Afrihost's traffic is still not 100% restored, right?
saffakanera, lol.
Their lack of redundancy *really* isn't my problem.

So it seems that I will need to be happy with poor speeds during the day until the DSLAMs in my area (Newlands) get upgraded (router syncs at g.dmt). I've tried everything from different Mweb packages to different Afrihost packages (Uncapped and Business) and I get absolutely no difference in Internet experience during the day. From about 8 a.m speeds start to drop up until around 11 p.m when it gets better again. I guess copper just can't handle the load? I got a call from Telkom this morning (very impressed) and apparently the Newlands/Claremont area might be next in line for a fibre rollout *happy dance* In the meantime I can live with full 4 Mbps speeds during off-peak hours only

There is already fibre in the ground in Newlands. There is a pipe heading from Rhodes Drive, down Union Avenue, past Protea circle and ending up at the Merc dealership (where it meets the Main Road fibre). Many of the smaller residential streets also had fibre laid at the same time.
My line syncs at 10 meg even though I'm singed up for 1 meg, and I never experience congestion. Maybe you need to talk to Telkom again.
I am in Newlands and used to get poor speeds. I complained on hello Peter and behold my line was upgraded to 10meg adsl 2 plus though I am on a 4meg connection profile. Ask the exchange to upgrade u to a 10meg adsl line, it cost the same as the 4meg line and I guarantee you your connection will be stable.
Hi digitalp. Syncing at 4 Mbps is definitely the problem. The lady who helped me upgrade from 1 Mbps also told me that I would automatically sync at 10 Mbps. How can I get upgraded?
I guess your DSLAM hasn't been upgraded. My router mode used to be g.dmt when I upgraded from 2meg to 4meg. A few days after the upgrade, I logged into my router to realize I was syncing at 10meg and the mode adsl 2 plus. What router are you using by the way?
Could it be the router? It does support ADSL2+ though...
