Afrihost Uncapped DSL Feedback

I am rather annoyed at the following service from Afrihost:

I have an 8Mbps Home Uncapped ADSL Line + Data with Afrihost of which I previously had a 2Mbps line, upgraded to 4Mbps and so on.

The issue I have had for a while now, is that no matter what your speed is, when you get throttled, It goes down to 1.3Mbps regardless of what your speed is. I tried to complain and see what the throttled speed is supposed to be through the Support on Clientzone, but they deleted my ticket.

I am well aware of the FUP and all of that, I understand that Home Uncapped has lower priority and I'm fine with it, However to throttle an 8Mbps line down to 1.3Mbps is really not fair on the consumer. Axxess throttles down 50% speed, maybe I should make a switch.

The ticket would definitely not have been deleted, it's more than likely just been escalated, if you can PM me the ticket reference number or your email address I'll follow-up on this for you.

The levels of throttling being applied can vary depending on the level of network demand. It is our priority to ensure that each of our Clients has the best experience possible but if the Home Uncapped account isn't working for you it may be worth looking at a Capped or Premium Uncapped account.

Evening Guys!

I am really sorry about this! :( There is an issue in the South affecting our DSL and Openserve Clients, our Team is working with our upstream providers to get this resolved as quickly as possible.

I need a speed sync. Line is syncing at exactly what a 2mbps line would when I pay for a 4mbps line.

Happened previously also and I really don't know why your system keeps on thinking I need a 2mbps line speed.

Also, how do I move my line away from you?

Edit: syncing fine now. Please ignore the reset request.

I have a 8Mbps Home Uncapped Data + Line and the line syncs at 8192kbps and so does my router

However, my speed tests reach a max of 6.99Mbps, should it not be around 7.9Mbps?

I previously had a 4Mbps line and it synced at 5120kbps, as well as when I had a 2Mbps line which synced at 2560kbps and those all gave the speeds I expected.

I have done multiple speed tests on different sites, I got the highest of 7.01Mbps

I got the line speed upgraded last week Monday and I've restarted the router every morning in case the sync would change.

Understood! If there is any change, please let me know!

That latency is also a bit higher than it should be for a local speedtest. :( Could you ping bras.afrihost.com quickly for me please. There may be an issue on your line that I'll need to look into.

Sorry that I took so long, fact. reset my router and had to wait for new dsl password to be up.

I also tried to do speed tests with my free 1GB Axxess account and my speed was consistently 7Mbps, did not drop at all whereas speed test on my main afrihost account jumped around a lot between 6 and 7Mbps.
