:(

Those spikes aren't good at all. Are you just seeing that latency to ShowMax? Or are other sites giving you similar latencies?

Wow my testing with the telkom account is an eye opener, even my 1gig afrihost capped account is having issues. So will send it all to critical care, might link it here to for transparency

Will try at 9 as that's when it's the most terrible
As I say I only get home these times of the night (only got home at 8 today) and I don't know if this is a problem the whole day. On weekends I generally don't have massive problems, I still get constant lag spikes in games but it's not permanent lag as in unplayable (although still irritating as it is most times the difference between a headshot and a death ... those guys that see you first before they warp onto your screen and shoot your head off :P )

My testing tonight -_- wow i'm gonna chill on the free telkom account to midnight. All tests sent to critical team so yea

There are a number of factors that can affect DSL performance, some of which are unfortunately beyond our control. Where possible we will always strive to ensure that our Clients have the best experience possible.

If one of our Client's doesn't have a great experience, we'll do our best to investigate and engage with them to find out what's going on. But that does mean that we need our Clients to work with, and engage with us in return.

blah...blah...fish paste!

"Why are we buffng it only me on the net dnt get why it take so lng"

This is a message I received from a client now. What the freaky deaky am I supposed to tell him?

Afrihost keeps on asking for tracert's yet so many people in different regions and on different packages are complaining about the same issues so why is this being treated as isolated incidents.

Afrihost please be straight with us and let us know what the problem actually is. I've referred clients to Afrihost as an ISP so I'm being held accountable now. Just tell us what's going on....

you and me in the same boat. The BS from AH is hitting my revenue quite hard.

We'll get to the bottom of it! Thanks for the test results.

No problem, thanks! Did some traces now and it seems to get worse as I expected :(

Business Planning has an applied logic to it. You plan for events seen and unseen. I think AH has lost the plot. Their initial reason for business at start-up was absolutely superb but...like most businesses out there...the more money you make...the more money you want. Its no longer about the customer experience, satisfaction and support, it now becomes greed. MORE! MORE! MORE! Even if it means compromising the business principles and reason for starting it.

Personally, I would rather stick to my business principles, apply the methodologies, invest in first ensuring the current client base is well supported before expanding. Applying all the correct processes(internal & external) that supports the strategy and vision, not over-extending beyond what I can support or have capacity to support. Ensuring that my current infrastructure supports my Target Operating Model(TOM) and explore opportunities in small manageable chunks, implementing where I know I am able to provide world class service, expertise and support without compromising my current niche and market segments.

Business Planning dictates that there are a number of factors to consider and as an outsider looking in, it would appear that the Exco of AH may have been misled and now there is this mess! The oversell ratio is way too high! Existing infrastructure is inadequate! Knowledge management appears to be an issue! Diversity of skills are not unilateral. ITIL principles have not been properly applied which is a NON-NEGOTIABLE as AH, as a provider, touch on ALL the areas of ITIL. Capacity Planning seems to have been furthest and lowest priority; it was all about how can we make more and spend less. Things break, need to replaced, become obsolete - was this accounted for and if so, by what margin?

AH - The time has come to review your TOM from probably about 2-3yrs ago and see how its evolved and mutated into the beast its become now. I understand you want to have the competitive advantage but you can only do what you can with the resources available. You have compromised your values and as a result, your model is spinning out of control. Take the knock, undo some of the changes implemented and retain / service the clients you have. The rest will come later. Thats what sets a good business apart from an EXCELLENT BUSINESS PARTNER.

I've followed Afrihost from start-up and liked how easily and quickly they adapted to market trends, applying their minds, collaborating, getting input and setting the bar even higher each time. Now, all its become is waffle, waffle. Its time for process re-engineering, going back to basics.

I've helped quite a few SOHO businesses and I only help once they have defined their reasons for starting a business, how they want to be perceived in the market 10yrs from now and what is the footprint they are going to apply to ensure this happens.

Thanks for your feedback and advice. :) I think it's important to note that the core of what we do, what we teach every new staff member; and what we remind current employees is the value and importance of our clients. We have and always will consider our clients first and strive to provide the best possible service, support and products.

Philosophics aside, how is your connection running at the moment?

I canned it. Moved to another SP. Exploring other options to move all other services before month-end including those of my clients.
