The installer has. Charged up a quite a bit but never soc 100% but there were a few jumps so I think the balancing did kick in. Voltage hold steady at a good high level, watching it now.

Sorry I thought I was in the other thread and you were just struggling with the HA integration not an actual inverter level problem.

There’s an Activate battery setting that should be run once to max them all out and sync them all up.
 
Hi. Perhaps, just a check to see if the Lan cables are the same. If I recall, the cables are configured and wired differently than to the battery. Maybe your last battery the cable is differently wired or connected
 
Something strange going on with Hubble AM2's.

Mine have serial numbers starting with HL then numbers. Rated power is 115ah / 5500WH.

But check my mates Hubbles he had installed recently: Serial numbers start with HLD and rating is 125ah / 6000WH!

No mention of this larger battery on the Hubble site.

My original one (purchased July 2022) with Serial Number : HL2205 shows capacity as 100Ah 5100Wh with Max Discharge of 100A (Solar Assistant sees it as 110Ah)

The new one with serial number : HL2211 shows a capacity of 115AH 5520WH (sic) with a discharge of "1 15A" (sic). There is a space between the "1 15A" on the discharge row. Solar Assistant sees this as a 100Ah Battery.

Of my two labels and comparing with your pic, my new battery seems to have cosmetic spelling errors - everything is in UPPER case, 48VDC, 53.6VDC , as opposed to 48Vdc

Did I buy a fake/grey market battery?

My understanding is Hubble don't make their own batteries, they buy from a manufacturer (manufacturers?) in China. This could simply be different batches?
 
Quick one you smart gents in this forum. My gut feeling says yes, it can be done through the auxiliary of the inverter.

Instead of me amending and making a plan with the geyser, why not swap out the 3KW, through in a ptc element, geyser blanket (It's in the garage's roof) and get x10 470W panels
x8 aimed for the house
x2 for the geyser? (Question marks, more insight would be appreciated from your end)

Changing to a smaller element cuts down peak load, but still uses the same amount of energy to heat the water. I don't believe the PTC marketing - will need some independent testing before I believe the snake oil.

Also, splitting the system makes no sense. Just put everything on essentials and a smart switch on the geyser to turn off when there's load shedding and insufficient PV. Simpler is better.

I see, i'm with you on the PTC. Still doing some research.

What about converting the geyser on it's own with x2 Panels - No connection with the inverter? I'll give the local installers a call today, just to find out what they think

Why would you want to split the system? That's just more complications and a lot more cost. Rather put the 10 panels on a single system - that way all 10 panels contribute to heating the water as well as the requirements for the rest of the house.

I think the 5KW Sunsynk wont be able to cover the geyser during load

But I get where you're at. Currently exploring several ideas to reduce overall load

The 5kW sunsynk can do 8kW with passthrough. A geyser element should be around 3kW and needs to run around 90 mins per day (depending on your usage). I'm sure you could find a 90min slot in the day when the rest of your load is less than 5kW.
 
That's a huge capacity if true. How the heck do they have such variance in capacity? The one I bought two months ago should I guess have been a AM2 rev2, but apparently is not. Has 10Ah less capacity than the first one.

Can Solar Assistant be trusted to be giving the actual capacity is another question to ask I guess

Well, I just learned something new!
Called the best solar installers in town, the guy explained it quite nice and simple.

He has the Deye installed at his place and tested it. It blends great on a 5KW inverter, with the battery set to 60%, they geyser will heat from the battery then use Eskom if available.

Requesting a quote on 8x Canadian 455W panels with installation.
Their rough estimated install came to R20k over the phone, I hope that's not right. Seems heavy!

The Canadian 455W panels were priced R3500 on the mark.
